Hi everyone! I am new to the site and have recently had some blood tests done. My CA125 has risen from 33 to 61 and this prompted a call from my doctors. To cut a long story short, I then had an urgent ultrasound, in which the gynaecologist noted a benign cyst. She ordered a repeat ultrasound two weeks later (different part of my cycle) and it had gone, again nothing to report. She checked my pancreas and other pelvic organs and was convinced that nothing was wrong! She said it could be raised for a number of reasons and seemed pretty unconcerned (42 and premenopausal). Having researched, it could be raised for other reasons such as lung (had chest CT scan), breast (ultrasound done) or GI (have had colonoscopy and endoscopy) and liver (have had abdominal CT scan). I feel that I have had all of the relevant tests done to no avail and am now stuck with sleepless nights and worry about this blood test! I am also pretty clued up as did a medical related degree at university. What if anything would you do now??? If anyone has any advice I would be massively grateful...... xxxx

High CA125 help!
Hi Jomorphey, sorry you seem in a fix right now. Have your scans been all clear? Your 125 can be raised for many reasons apart from Ovarian Cancer. I hope your team gets to the bottom of it and you get a reasonable result. What I would say is that Ovarian Cancer can hit any one of any age from 18 upwards. Your team seems to be diligent so I would hope you will get a negative result
Yes, scans all clear! So so frustrating xxx
Hi. Just seen your post. Sounds like good news but anxiety is very normal in our situations. I have a small suggestion that may set your mind at rest. If it was me, I would ask for a Pet/Cat scan which is from neck to upper legs ie. most of body. It shows things up much earlier than Catscans. If nothing shows, looks like you are in the clear and if something does show, good to catch it early. Your medical team sound like they would agree. Also CA125 can go up because of inflammation etc. Have a blood test again in a month and if its still going up, get a Pet/Cat scan done. Just a few ideas. Hope it is all clear. Let us know. Hugs from Australia.
