Hi rescuedogs, Here is an article that can help you make sense of calcium supplements. americanbonehealth.org/nutr...

Please try to get as much as you can of your recommended daily calcium and other nutrients from food and beverages. Supplements should be used only to help you fill in any gaps in your diet.

I take BONE-UP and New Chapter bone strength. I also take 400mg Chelated magnesium, K2 and D3. After 2 years my bones did not get any worse and my bone pain in my hips have stopped. I'm 67. I took a bad fall in my basement 2 weeks ago on cement and did not break a bone, so I think I am doing something right. Look at reviews on Bone-up by Jarrow formulas, as there are thousands of reviews. Doctor said deep doing what I am doing.

It is very easy to get enough calcium daily from diet. I do. I did not like taking the prescribed calcium and vitamin D tablets and on discussion with my doctor it was agreed I got enough calcium daily from my diet. I am only prescribed Vitamin D tablets.I am happy with this arrangement. I take K2, magnesium and boron supplements too.

Another BoneUp user here. It uses hydroxyapatite which is the calcium in our bones. It also has other bone necessities. Six capsules was a bit much for me and apparently others too because they now have a three capsule a day formula. Big capsules but if you don't have a problem it might be the way to go. I take just two while relying on diet for most of my calcium needs.
