I am trying to get a cough under control which I have had for about 3 years.
I have seen a Respitory doctor and technician who are keeping an eye on my lungs and breathing due to them thinking it might be asthma (but never been proven) my blow tests seem ok.
My cough comes on and off during the day, but mainly very bad after meals and can last for 10-15mins non stop with thick Phlegm.
I have been diagnosed with Acid Reflux, Hiatus hernia, I’ve had a barium meal which commented on oesophageal dysmotility (not working properly)
I take Lamprazole 30g on a morning and Peptic acid if needed 4 times a day.
I have a telephone appointment this afternoon with a gastrologist who may suggest Domperidone
What do you think, has anybody else had this drug combined with Lamprazole for Acid Reflux cough.
Your comments will be very much appreciated.

I sympathise. I’ve had a cough for about ten years. Mainly after food. Sometimes after tea or coffee. My lungs are clear but after a barium swallow I was told I show severe reflux and there’s a timing issue with my lower sphincter value. I’m guessing it doesn’t close properly. I gave up on ppi’s some years ago as nothing stopped the coughing. I now take Famotidine 20mg in the morning and 20mg before dinner plus Gaviscon Advance. It helps. Doesn’t eradicate it completely but at least now I can go to the cinema etc without feeling embarrassed coughing all the way through it. Good luck.
I have had a cough for years, and just regard it as part of life now. Don't have a lot of phlegm, but cough at night at intervals, and in the morning, and more frequently when eating, combined with choking when things go down the wrong way. I take pantoprazole, and Gaviscon as necessary.
You have the classic symptoms of LPR (Laryngeal, pharyngeal reflux). It is where, due to hiatus hernia, acid comes up fast from the stomach, through the esophagus and pharynx into your throat. The throat has low acid resistance and this causes your symptoms. This tends to occur particularly after eating and in my own case I find, when strapped in whilst driving my car. For some years I was prescribed domperidone and this eased the symptoms. Then NICE decided Domperidone could only be prescribed for very short periods of time so I was thrown back onto PPIs which have a very limited effect. Keeping away from acidic foods and not eating big meals will help. Google LPR, there is a load of info on the net. Try asking your doctor for some domperidone as well. Good luck.
