I had 2 iron infusions in March, due to fatigue and because my Ferritin level was very low at 20. I had my Ferritin level tested 2 weeks after the 2 infusions and it was 650 (normal is up to 200). My doctor told me not to worry about it, and it would come down in a month or two. It’s now June and I had it tested again and it’s increased to 848. I have abdominal and joint pain. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Ooh, that sounds nasty! Hope you are getting some answers from the doctors. Had to look up what Ferritin actually is. Thank goodness there are heaps of information on the internet. Have a look and if you are not happy with what your doctor has told you, ask questions. Only you know your body. Good luck xxx
Hi Cat551 I have had high ferritin levels for years. My ferritin is around 550 usually.
It can be a sign of inflammation somewhere in the body. Nothing has turned up in mine. It can also be a sign of heavy drinking and liver damage. I have had a hard time persuading my doctor that I'm not an alcoholic. In my case I think the menopause may be a factor and not having periods anymore.
My joints ache but I put it down to arthritis Maybe it isn't.
As far as I understand it, high ferritin can only be treated by taking blood and I think 848 is getting close to that level. As your starting level was 20 though I can understand why the thinking is that it will come down on its own. Sorry I'm not much more help.
