Hi I’ve tried cutting so much from my diet but still suffering from LPR constant sore throat despite taking gaviscon after every meal. Finally gave up and started Lansoprazole after having Omeprazole and Rabaprazol previously. However I’m now experiencing diarrhoea and frightened to go out!!! Anyone else having same problem? I stopped the other PPIs for same reason and also because I’m concerned about long term effects.

I haven’t suffered this issue with any PPI. I didn’t want to keep using Lansoprazole for a long time because of it’s effects upon your bones. I began to miss a couple of days a week relying more on Gaviscon Advance. I also get relief from Benzydamine mouthwash. After a year my silent reflux is much better.

I found omeprazole upset my stomach and lansoprazole didn’t work, so I started pantoprazole which was much better. I was sorry to have to stop it but I was still aspirating reflux. Because I’m immunosuppressed, I’ve had endless problems with respiratory infections from the reflux, so I’m now on famotiditine and erythromycin. But pantoprazole worked well for me otherwise.

Thanks - I might get gp to prescribe that to try.
