Hi I don't know if anyone can help.

Both my kids have been ill on and off for the last year. Even more this year where they are taking it turns to be on antibiotics for one thing or another.

They are 4.5 and 2 both in school/nursery I know they tend to pick stuff up but this is getting ridiculous. It's effecting home life and work.

Imwe give them vitamins daily I don't know what else to do.

Hello Babypigeon, the early years can be difficult when you feel that your children are constantly catching one thing after another! I didn't realise, but five or six colds per year is average, however eight to ten is considered within normal range. What about you, are you looking after yourself?

Wow that's a lot thank you for messaging. It's not help by them both having weak chest so everything they get goes straight to the chest 🙄.

I am trying to look after myself thank you, but hard when I have a poorly mum to look after and a job. My husband is supportive.

I just hate seeing them go through this.

Hi Babypigeon ,

Sorry to hear this. It is really difficult and as you say, the impact is felt throughout the whole family.

Unfortunately this seems to be a theme for many families and this year has been particularly difficult. It can be impossible to work out if they have picked up something else or if it is the same virus or infection.

It does not help that it is the first year that people have been able to mix again properly since 2020 and our immune systems have not had chance to catch up!

As Claire said, try to ensure you are looking after yourself as best you can as it can be extra tiring caring for poorly little ones.

Don't forget, you can discuss your concerns with the GP and they can consider if any onward referrals are indicated.

Best Wishes, Rachel
