Hi everyone,Looking for any tips for help with brushing teeth in my 4 year old little dude. He has some sensory issues and just all round hates brushing his teeth at the moment. We've tried smaller toothbrushes, various different flavours of toothpaste, playing his favourite song whilst doing it and a few others - any other tips greatly welcomed!
Thankyou😀

We had this with my little girl and it was really stressful! We used a free app (cant remember which one) that played songs and had little videos, she could earn points to get new characters. That seemed to help. Also had a light up toothbrush at one point, but the app worked better as it seemed to distract her. She is still not a fan of brushing her teeth but will do it now when asked. Good luck!
Hi we also had issues too! It’s quite difficult isn’t it getting them into the routine especially with the extra sensory issues? I think we did a lot of what you tried - different brushes and tooth pastes. We also tried getting them to choose their own brush and toothpaste from the shop but with an attitude more of ‘let’s try this’ rather than ‘this will fix everything’.
To be honest the most helpful thing was to just get into the habit of going to the bathroom and just begin the process of knowing we brush our teeth now. Even if they couldn’t we’d try just helping them try putting the brush in their mouth or tasting the toothpaste each time. But I understand that might be too much depending on the level of sensory issue. If you really find you are not progressing with it, it might be helpful having a chat with the health team about any specific issues on the just one number line. Good luck 😊
