Constant sore throat
Hi Frasta. Don't know how old you are but I am 65. A barium swallow revealed wear and tear in my neck bones which was causing sore throat. I also have hiatus hernia and excess of acid reflux. Recently underwent a Stretta procedure and hoping for good result. Good luck with your problem.
Thanks for the reply I'm 66 do you still suffer from the sore throat which what gets me down like right now never had heart burn? booked another gp appointment going to push for more tests considering using my savings and go private if you don't mind me asking did you go private or NHS
I had procedure on the NHS. My throat is dry rather than sore. I am a singer and still singing, cutting out dairy has helped with the high notes . I'd push for the tests. I had a gastroscopy , followed by manometry and Ph tests then finally the barium swallow which revealed the neck bone problem. Then referred for the Stretta. I am lucky to live in Middlesbrough as Mr. Viswanath is one of few people who do this and he is based here. I also suffer with Soegrens syndrome which gives me dry mouth and eyes. Hope this helps.
Hi. I had exact symptoms, turned out to be Lingual tonsils, very rare apparently. Felt like a piece if sponge stuck back of throat, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing.
Hi, I developed a really sore mouth after being prescribed lamoprozole, it is one of the side effects listed on the leaflet that comes with the tablets, I have a painful ulcer under my tongue and soreness all down the right side of my mouth, sometimes affecting my ears. My doctor changed tablets to Omeprazole but the ulcer is still there. Have put up with it for over a year. I was even referred to a maxilial facial surgeon who couldn't find anything wrong. I find, like you, it gets me down especially with the bad press that ppi's have received lately. I am going to bother my gp to ask for blood tests to see if I am deficient in any way.
Likewise thinking of coming of the ppi
Could be bile reflux. The meds don't help then and the bile can affect your throat and even sinuses etc. It is called LERD, or silent reflux.
Thanks for your advice apologies for being late replying due to family bereavement
