I read somewhere that after having an oesphagectomy you can find it difficult to absorb vitamin b12 I seem to be having some symptoms which could possibly be connected. Does anyone have any information on this. Thanks

Vitamin B12

I take b12 supplements, that helps.
I take B12
Hi, have you had a blood test yet as it affects your sleep and you feel fatigued all the time. They thought I suffered from CFS (fatigue syndrome) at first but then decided it was sleep related and referred me to sleep clinic had an, they did bloods and my b12 was extremely low (had injections) but it took another b12 blood test (different type) to find I was deficient. My absorption of b12 and folate is poor and they put it down to my reflux (GORD) . Hope you get the help you need. Kevin
I think it may depend on how much of your stomach was removed. I've never had a problem with B12 deficiency, but my sister-in-law had a full gastrectomy and she has to have B12 injections every six months. They should be able to tell with a blood test.
I take b12 supplements Daily. Your body naturally expelles the excess so I take 5000mcg a day.
Try and get a full blood test. It’s difficult to absorb lots of things including Iron. Best way of getting your B12 on board is one of the mouth sprays. They are extremely effective. Think one brand is BetterYou. Good luck.
