I think that OCD causes such emotional overload that you can numb yourself to stop yourself feeling such intense pain. Getting a grip on the OCD helps to allow you to feel again.

I've been helped by a low dose of aripiprazole, prescribed alongside the sertraline I take for OCD. I've found it gives me an extra boost and makes me feel more like my old self.

As for being a bad person, OCD does like to tell you that! It lowers your self-esteem and then just when you're feeling you can't fight back, it tells you that you are worthless and bad. But don't believe it.
