Vitamin d and iron deficiency

Sorry I posted a little while ago but I forgot to say my daughter has a severe vitamin d deficiency and is very low in iron, I just wondered if anyone else had had ocd symptoms exacerbated by vitamin deficiencies and once levels go up do the ocd symptoms become less severe as the are pretty high at the moment.

I'm not a nutritionist, but the B group of vitamins are often said to be helpful for mental health. Perhaps the iron deficiency could be related to her periods, particularly as she started them so early.

Has the doctor put her on Vitamin D supplements? If not, ask about them or get them over the counter at the chemist or health food shop.

It could be that your daughter's obsession with snot is stopping her eating properly. The best nutrition generally comes from food, though supplements are useful as well. I'm not saying nag her about it, but it is important that as an adolescent she eats properly. Plenty of fruit and veg, not too much junk food, generally makes you feel better.

Have done lots research and it does say some people’s ocd is exacerbated when there is a severe deificiency - it effects serotonin levels , same for iron, the trouble is it takes at least 3 months for

Levels to start returning to

Normal and the ocd is pretty entrenched now. She is starting a 5 day intensive course with the OCD centre in Taunton although this has to be done via Skype or FaceTime due to the restrictions at the moment. So am hoping it will

Help her

I will keep you updated.

Many thanks for your well wishes
