if this is not a suitable forum to ask a question I quite understand but if it's ok....i am about to lead a team supporting an individual with OCD, hopefully this person will join this wonderful site. I just wanted to ask you all the best way of talking to the individual/how best to respond when they are experiencing compulsions and wanting me/others to be a part of the compulsions?

Go easy on them. Encourage, but don't force them to go against their compulsions. That at least worked best for me. It is truly vile having OCD and we don't like giving into a compulsion, but if we are forced into it we are more likely to retreat into the OCD. A little gentle encouragement, along with some of the techniques that can help to overcome them, is far more effective. But try not to let yourself be sucked into being part of the compulsions. It just feeds the compulsion, and increases the hold of OCD, as well as tying yourself down to someone else's problem. Occasionally it may be necessary to give way, if the OCD patient is really struggling, but don't let them think they can rely on your compliance with it.
Fantastic that you've asked how to go about it. Absolutely agree with sallyskins, and also remember they don't want to be doing all that they are being forced to do. Don't ever see it as their fault,it's not, and this only frustrates the person more and leads to greater compulsions....in my experience with my son. Glad you're helping.
Thank you so much for your kind responses, from your encouragement (and the individual who we will be supportings brilliance) I'm hoping that the team will be able to make things a little easier rather than more difficult. A soft voice and partnership to gently oppose the shouty OCD voice sounds good
