How did you get here?? Where is your car parked? How long have you had problems with mobility, ? Does it affect your bresthing?

Hope this helps, I was successful, I walked with a walking aid, parked the car as near as I could, my husband accompanied me and I was quite breathless with the effort.

oh thank you, I don't drive so my mum will be taking me and I have a stick also. Was your husband allowed in the room with you? I hear it is more than one person asking you questions?

in reply toSue8

There was one man asking questions he was very patient and helpful and told me at end that he thought I would qualify which I did! My husband stayed with me the whole time. I wish you well it has been so useful to me allowing extra space for my wheelchair or scooter to allow me to safely transfer. Good luck!

Yes and it was a good experience. I was having a less than good day but still able to walk. I explained how I tired easily and how my life was ruled by where I could park and get close to. I was issued one and given a contact to an occ therapist and got some bits and bobs to help me in my house. They also urged me to apply for dla - I haven't done this but the blue badge has changed my life! Two occupational therapists interviewed me and they were clued up on RA and told me it was just part of the new checks due to the amount of fraudulent applications being made. I am sure it will go well, tell them about your most difficult day and don't worry xx

Thank you. I get low rate care DLA but was refused mobility. They said it was because I could walk even though a lot slower than the norm. However over the past 3 months it is becoming more difficult and I have pain all the time. I am more or less house bound as I can't get to town unless I have a taxi or my parents take me (they have a blue badge).

Thank you , you have put my mind at rest.

Sue - I didn't know you needed a mobility assessment! Is this very new? I got accepted on the application form I sent. When I went for my photo taking/badge processing, they asked the minimum of questions. Was that the mobility assessment?

Sue8 - can you re- apply with your doc/consultant's support/letter. You sound like you definitely need a BB. xx

You don't always need a mobility assessment - at the moment it seems like the process for blue badge applications is changing in various council areas. I know our area has gone from just requiring a doctors certificate to a full 23 page application form that is like the mobility component of the DLA form. I think most of Scotland is heading that way. A friend of mine just recently got hers through that form, and she didn't need an assessment, though she had had a badge previously. If you get DLA mobility, usually you won't need the mobility assessment either.

Thanks for the info, Sue. Let us hope they are good at mahn gnu right e Jains then if doc's assessment is not part of theirs. I have reservations but we will see when mine is uo for renewal. I say thus as i have had a dreadful Atos assessment recently where a non medically trained woman made dreadful wrong assumptions and messed up. Anyhow different deprartments. Thanks again for the

Hi all

I thought you might find it helpful to read this article from one of our recent Members magazine about the recent changes to the blue badge scheme: nras.org.uk/about_rheumatoi...

Kind regards
