Hi, is anyone taking these 2 together? I'm feeling sick with upset tummy (you dont need the details!). MTX is by injection and I haven't been feeling sick with it until I started fluoxetine so don't think its MTX - could fluoxetine be to blame on its own? if so what else do people recommend
Fluoxetine and Methotrexate cocktail.: Hi, is anyone... - NRAS
Fluoxetine and Methotrexate cocktail.
Nausea can be an initial side effect of the Fluoxetine - but it will pass. But if you have an upset stomach it could just be a bug.
Hope that helps, I don't take it myself but this is a side effect that my patients have reported when commencing Fluoxetine.
Cece x
Thanks, how long should I give it?
Hi Gail, sorry your having problems with your meds, fluoxetine taken with NSAID can increase the likelihood of upper gastrointestinal problems/bleeding. You can get medications to protect the lining of your stomach and anti sickness drugs.
If your having major problems have a word with your GP or Rhumy nurse, if it's something you can cope with wait a bit longer and hopefully it will settle down once your body gets used to the drug.

Hi Gail
I am taking fluoxetine and MTX by tablet. I feel very nauseus for 24hours after taking the MTX (15mg). I have been taking MTX for 7 weeks now but the nausea is awful the day after. I am taking too many anti sickness tablets as i am in work also. Trying to persevere as the RA is much better so the MTX is working.
Do you feel fuzzy in the head also as I do evertime i take it.
