Hi everyone can anyone help me with any advice has i was on 20 mg methatrexate started having migraines daily some days clusters of them,.... nurse said miss a week then go back to 15 mg till febuary..... the migraines have restarted does anyone else suffer with this??????????????nurse said it could be stress?

I had the same headaches. Stopped when I went on injection metho.

Sorry to hear your suffering.

Yes this can be a side effect, along with dizziness and nausea and other more nasty things. I have been on 25mgs for about 2.5yrs and really suffered.

Then a new nurse said take MTX by itself (dont take other drugs at same time) and take before bed also added Folic Acid to be taken the day after MTX dose.

This has really helped me, but everyones different, although there are still days when I suffer fron nausea and the memory impairment is still ongoing.

Tell your Rheumy nurse whats going on.

farjer121 thank you for replying, i will see my doctor and see if i can take some folic acid after the methatrexate, i know some people are on folic everyday of the week maybe we all should be may help alot.

Hi I have just started methorexate today, And i am also taking 5mgs of Folic acid a week, So it don't have to be taken every day, So it would be worth asking.

Its worth asking about increasing the folic acid - seems like we all need slightly different amounts of it, so just increasing it slightly might be worth trying. Needs to be done with doctor supervision and advice though, as it can cause problems if you end up taking too much.
