I don't know why they had stop prescribing the 10mg mtx, i now have to take 10 of the 2.5mg and tonight i got distracted and couldn't remember how many i had taken. I hate having to take 10 at the one time, i can't understand why they had to change them.

I was taking MTX when they changed it, I asked my consultant and pharmacist and they both said it was because some people particularly elderly were accidentally overdosing on them.

Get some kind of small container or pill box for them. In advance, count out how many you are to take in one go and leave it in the pill box. If they come in foil strips that you can cut apart, then separate out the number you need for each dose, and put them in an envelope or somewhere away from the rest of the packet.
Thanks for your replies, i normally count them out but my fingers are so stiff and sore so i thought it easier to empty them onto my lap then count them as i was taking them, I don't like them so small, i usually drop them. I found it much easier when they were bigger and i took a lesser amount.
Could you get your pharmacy to put each weeks dose into seperate containers for you so that you dont have to sort them out yourself? It may be worth asking them.

I find that taking 8 makes me feel nauseous before we start!
You could ask about switching to injectable MTX? Mind you I worry a bit about how that will be if my hands are bad. But the advantage is that its a fixed dose. I think Judi's suggestion is good re asking the pharmacy to count then out for you and put in a pill box as they are counting them anyhow and you only take them once a week. They are very small and fiddly to handle for sore, stiff hands I agree. Tilda xxx
Thanks girls, Like Cathie says taking 8 or 10 makes me feel nauseous too. I appreciate all your replies and may get the pharmacy to do that, i just hate taking so many. xx
