cortisone injections tomorrow: due 2 have 3 injections... - NRAS
cortisone injections tomorrow
Hi, I've only had cortisone injections in my wrist once and elbows a couple of times. I'll be honest, it was not pleasant and yes it hurt. The injections worked once in my elbow but the wrist one didn't work. I find the steroid injection into the bum cheek works brilliant though. I'm not experienced in this and can only speak from my own experience so I don't know why sometimes jabs are given straight into a joint. I know which one I'd prefer. Good luck with your injection though and remember I had it done more than once so it wasn't too bad.

I've had them into my knees, and found it unpleasant rather than downright painful. I try to concentrate on something else, and tap toes or fingers of whichever arm/foot is not being injected. And it worked brilliantly! Polly
I've had the injections on several ocassions and have been lucky enough to say have had good effect. Not a pleasant experience, but pretty short lived - I tend to take some pain relief before going, an hour or so, and then just top up during the first 24 hours. Also make sure you take it easy for the first 24/48 hours and give your body a chance to benefit from it..
Hope all goes well.

Hi there
They do work and the pain is not so bad as what you are suffering, so don't worry! I used to have knees and shoulders done-with the drawing out of fluid first, and still drove home afterwards. All I would say is try not to over use the joints to give the steriod the best change of giving you greater pain relief.

Ive had several injections, they can be a little bit uncomfortable, I wouldn't say it was sore, but I was aware of a slight stinging sensation.
You are best take it easy for 24hours after the injection.
The injections are well worth the discomfort for the relief that they give.
Good luck
Carole
Hi there,
I expected nothing from the injections which I had in both knees - was in a bit of a daze at the time, though. I didn't find them painful, and I didn't feel the full benefit for a week or so but then they transformed my life! I've tried to use the increased mobility and flexibility to build up my wasted quadriceps a bit.
Hope they work every bit as well for you,
Christina
I always take a deep breath so that I breathe out when the needles going in. It helps to relax and less pain. C
I had one injection in April and it worked a treat and within 24 hours, it was into my shoulder and was just a little bit painful. I had another one in July, again in my shoulder but that one didn't seem to work at all. I'm the biggest baby out when it comes to needles but the first one worked so well I would have had the same every day if necessary for the relief it gave. Good luck with yours!
I have had the injections in knees and ankles, all I will say is
if it can be done whilst the person injecting is looking at an
ultra sound of the joint the less painful it is.
The last one done on my ankle was 'almost' a pleasure, the
doctor doing it knew his stuff and that combined with the scan
made it bearable.
At the end of the day a moments pain is worth the relief the jab
can provide albeit not for ever.
Looking forward to the day that a yearly jab is all we need to
be pain free and active, hope I get to see that day)
Hi I've had cortosine injections I didn't feel a thing, but they didn't work, would have it done again if the same person (my consultant) did it.If I get offered it again I will ask about having it in my bum as Paula has. Hope you all keeping safe Annxx
thanks all for the advice about the injections, had the ones done in both shoulders, but not the left knee, nurse who done it said she felt 3 injections in 1 sitting would be to much ( why conusultant advise 3 same day ?.) anyway ones in shoulders fine no problems. thanks again
