Ups and...DOWNS!!..Foggy and sore.

Oh lordy! I've got only 2 days until my cycle from London to Cambridge and what does my body decide? To go on strike no less..

Yesterday I got the fog; major lack of motivation, tired, confused, and down right grumpy. I seriously wanted to just rest my head on my desk at work and sleep. Last night got an early night but I knew it was the fog because getting up the next day was near impossible. Today at work felt like a dream - except it was a dream where I was at work all day and had to actually respond to people. I've lost my appetite and my skin is sore - I think I've got a fever but its hard to tell. I feel bad that I couldn't make my boyfriend dinner before he went to work, I could hardly say a proper goodbye at all!

I realize the fever etc is more likely a virus than brain fog but I think the virus has triggered the darned fog.

I'm determined to do this bike ride, I will not let this beat me!! I am not brain fog.. I am in control! That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

I've heard that wheat etc carbs can give you brain fog - does anyone have any tips?? I've had some vitamins and plenty of water, I will flush this thing.

Thanks everyone, keep on keeping on!

oh dear thats awful, i can offer no help just a cheer on and wish you all the luck that you kill the virus, see through the fog and pedal well in two days time..

How long does the fog usually last with you? Is it likely to have cleared in time for the bike ride?

Like a lot of people I used to think that illnesses that had a big fatigue-type component were caused by depression or emotional problems - not that I thought they weren't real - just that the psyche played a big part.

Surprise surprise I don't think quite like that anymore! But I still think that we do have some unconscious influence over our bodies. Actually I'm probably just talking about what I've observed in myself. For example, if I had a big challenge on the horizon I can easily imagine having a really bad patch of fog or something in the lead up to it .... & then being fine and dandy on the day .... !

Well, even if you can't relate to this pocket psychology or don't have those sort of patterns, I hope that you do feel much better soon.

Thank you Mads! I'm going to sweat it out, I called my mum - she told me to get orange juice paracetamol and keep drinking water like crazy.

Christina I think you're dead right there, the psyche does play a big part in everything I think. I've been worrying and stressing and now my body has responded, I know that I'll be fine on the day.. fingers crossed!! Maybe I should do some yoga. 4od is quite relaxing mind you.

Thanks :) xxox

I hope your cycle ride from london to cambridge goes well for you. Please blog and let us know how it goes and when you get to cambridge if you can please take some photos as i come from just outside cambridge and living in the midlands now i wonder what it looks like now. Are you doing it for charity and if so what charity are you doing it for.

I wish you well and i hope you will be feeling much brighter and the brain fog will have passed. Best of luck. sylvi.xxx

Hi Tracy! Thanks :D I'll be sure to come and say hi, that is if my team don't sweep me off to the nearest pub asap haha :).

I'll be taking my camera and I'll pop a photo or two on here. Feeling a lot better today actually, very relieved, I'm just going to keep swigging the H2O and put my feet up.

I'm actually riding for two different charities, Flora and Fauna international and Save the Children - you can find out more on justgiving.com/rachelcockett - however, this is not a plug, please don't feel pressured to donate just because I've sent you a link lol :).

Thanks again all, Rach xoxox

Hi Tracy,

Thanks! It was lovely to meet you too. I'm naively hoping that tomorrow I'll just feel nicely stretched lol. I'll pop up a couple of photos.

I'm celebrating with Fish n Chips and a movie - bliss.

Take care Tracy, good work on the stand!
