Hi sheenerweener, really depends on the reason for the blood tests, if they are to monitor a drug, usually about a week or less. It would probably be best to contact whoever requested the bloods to check. Good luck, Jennyxxxxxx

Hi chubby, its to see if I have ra or inflammatory in my hands the doing blood count, esr etc thanks for your reply x

Hi again, sounds like your GP has requested these, maybe you should really check if they need to be done ASAP. I hope it is a good outcome for you, and wishing you very well.

Thanks jenny rheumy requested them as they not sure what is wrong and just said it's polythragia. Until the get the results of scans blood tests etc thanks again

I think that's a fancy word for aches and pains, hope the bloods sort it out for you, and that it's a good result, let me know how you get on. Jennyxx

HI Sheena - the ESR and CRP are the main inflammatory markers they will want to see and these are usually back the same or next day as have to be done more or less on the spot (ESR does anyway). Your rheumy may also want to see whether you are positive or negative for rheumy factor and for ant-ccp - the more specific test. These two tests take a long while to come back usually but he may have to order them himself. I had a letter from the hospital saying which tests were required for my telemed consultation last week but I have already had my rheumatoid factor and my anti-ccp tests done and I think they only get done once at the start usually. You will help yourself most if you've had them done already and go into your rheumy apt with print outs of them I find. TTx

PS and probably a good idea to get your liver tested too so if he wants to start you off on a DMARD he can do it without having to wait for the results - they usually come back same day too. TTx

Hi there, if I have appointment with rheumy I usually have all my blood tests 3 days before. The blood clinic will assess your blood within 24 hours of taking it, but then the results can take another day or so to get to the rheumy. But if your rheumy has ordered the tests then you might as well have the blood tests done as soon as you can and not leave it to the last minute before the 9th July. At least that way you know it's done. Polly
