Wendy,

I had shingles 2 years ago before I went on to humira and rituximab.

I believe once you have had chicken pox it stays within your system and can re-appear as shingles later in life.

I dont think it's necessary to be in contact with anyone. Have you tried googling it?

Yes I have while on Etanercept injections. I have been prescribed acyclovir on a regular basis and this has prevented it except when I stupidly decided to stop taking it for a couple of weeks in order to see if I really needed it. I did!

Morning. yes Wendy's right, you don't need to be in contact with anyone, if your run down, stressed or immune supressed then you are at risk.

I was at the doctors a few weeks ago about this.

My RA nurse gave me lots of advice on this as well as many on this site when I asked the same question, especially Beth, if you put shingles into the tab at the top you'll get lots of info, good luck and hope you feel better soon :)

Wendy, I got shingles about 15 years ago when I exercised with too much weights & strained my knee. It went down my nerve path-just on one leg. I have scars because I was mis-diagnosed twice. They kept saying I was too young to get shingles. I was about 30 then. I know that I walked all thru Disney World in Florida with calamine lotion on for 2 days & I got a lot of stares, ha.

Good luck,

Christine
