Agony in right Ankle!
I have pain in my left ankle - it's been a few months now but only gets me hobbling suddenly when I have put my foot down wrong I think? Also hurts when I push the clutch pedal down - sometimes quite bad so I can't drive but mostly just a flash of pain and then okay.
My physio has been treating it with ultrasound massage for 4 sessions now and says that it's sometimes the tendon and sometimes the ligament and sometimes the joint - moves around the ankle bone basically and she can tell where it hurts each time because I flinch when she prods it. She says it's the RA but there isn't much she can do about it - drugs the only thing that might sort it she believes. She says it's Synovitis.
I do a lot of exercise - mostly walking and stretching and tai chi - and keep my weight down all the time as it would be a lot worse if I was heavier I've no doubt. But it still continues to give me jip a lot - it's really bad today. I believe it's possible to have an ankle opp that might help - a fusion or something? I'm sure others such as Gina will come on and tell you more. TTx
Have you tried an ankle support? (I got one from my chemist some years ago so don't know what the price is nowadays) but did find that it helped then and have used it several times over the years.

Hi Gals, thanks for the advice, i'm waiting to see the occupational therapist soon. I have got a joint injection booked for the end of this month! So will see after that . I will definately look into some support for the ankle.
I've been referred because "there is no arch shape in my foot"???? Maybe will get some insoles.
TildaT, I struggle to walk or do any form of exercise because of the ankle. Since Xmas my weight has suddenly gone up and am having difficulty in losing it. Steroids don't help either with weight! Oh well plod on and see what happens, thanks for advice though.
