Hi I found that the diet website of a certain supermarket (not sure if I'm allowed 'advertising' on here, but it's tescodiets.com) was great. I signed up for 2 months initially and didn't need any more than that. You can adapt and choose whether you want a diet that is gluten free, dairy free, convenience, or to suit any other requirements / lifestyle! There is so much choice and you can swap any meals you don't like - really easy to follow! I was then helped a bit I think by leflunomide that I was on at the time, but have been off that for 6 months now and even on prednisolone managed to maintain weight!
Re gluten free, my son was recently diagnosed as coeliac, so we now all eat more gluten free than not, and have got on really well with that, but don't know if I can say it's had much effect on either weight or RA (just enjoying many of the GF foods - made a yummy banana bread this evening)!! Hope that helps..
I was reading an article a few weeks ago- Fish oils 3000mcg can flick on the fat burning mode.
I also take CLA, but if you buy it buy the one with Tonalin.
I have lost weight (3 stone) combined with Slimming world plan I follow the veggie option as I am vegetarian hence swallowing the fish oils!
Do you excersise? a 20min walk can help, or if you like swimming, which is good for RA as the weight is supported in the water.Get advise first before you go for it!
Relaxation is also nice way to wind down and relax the busy mind, it releases chemicals that heal the body- also been proven helpful in weightloss, especially when you fancy something unhealthy.
Hope this helps
Caroline
Thank you. Yes realising lifestyle changes required.
Slimming World seems really popular at the moment. I am a serial Weight Watcher!
Plenty of water, Big whole meal healthy option for breakfast, lots of fruit & healthy snacks, maybe a few Boots shaper bars for treats. Healthy lunch, A big dinner with fish chicken or lean meat & tons of veg./salad.
I don't agree with excluding whole food groups. My best friend is Coeliac, and has to eat gluten free so I sometimes take same options, its not too bad, always clipping nice recipes for her.
Have you been diagnosed as Coeliac? My eldest daughter does'nt eat anything white! My youngest girl eats everything in sight. My son is a strict vegan, they are all extremely thin, so I don't know....
I walk every day ,not very fast or very far ,but still its moving, and at least half hour.
Best of luck, G
Oh yeah another tip home made soups, I loose lots of weight when I eat soups, I Make myself, very filling.

Thanks Gina. Not coeliac just heard it may help. Thanks so much. So hard all this.
Hi
I'm a Weight Watcher too and so far lost just over a stone. Works well for me, as current program allows you lots to eat. I can't have yeast so have very little bread (which i love) and that helps. Should own shares in RyVita! Have a Wii Fit Plus that gives me regular exercise and is good as you can pick and choose what exercises suit you. I also walk 90 min. country walk once a week, sometimes twice with a group of walkers. Eat lots of fruit, zero fat Greek yoghurt which is lovely. I cut back on alcohol but not cut out completely and that's helped a lot. Dont have too much of a sweet tooth so that helps me. But if the choc is in the house I'll eat it! Its hard to lose with RA but on days you feel "good" try to walk or at least move around the house more. I think every body is different, so do what suits you and your lifestyle.
Good luck with it!

I was diagnosed in Dec with many food allergies. The list is very long but I'll give you the biggies. Sugar, yeast, vanilla, cheese, wheat, rice, rye, oats, etc., etc. It has been really hard for me to lose weight in the past and worse since RA, but I'd suggest lose the sugar and yeast and you'll lose weight without trying as I have. Good luck!
HI I think you have to find the diet right for you for it to work. I've done Slimming World lost a bit but not a lot. I've now lost 1 1/2 stones on the Dukan diet, although th Harcombe diet is probably better. Both of these two are good for gluten free (I am) as you cut out carbs ie bread, cakes etc. I also have a lot of food intolerances, I used to eat a lot of fruit thinking that they were the healthy option, however on Dukan you don't eat them for the first part of the diet - that;'s when I lost most weight! For me it was the fruit that was keeping the weight on me!
It's also worth keeping a food diary as it's surprising how much you "nibble" in the day!
Good luck!
Have you tried hypnotherapy. I did and had a virtual gastric band and it really helped. I used to have certain things for breakfast and if I didn't eat them then I hadn;t had breakfast now I stop when I am full and its amasing how easy it is after years of eating too much
light exscise and a balance diet lol easeir said than done, the more books you read the more confuse you get, ask your RA nurse they may be able to put you in touch with a diet nurse
Every morning I run 2 to 5 kms daily. This will supports to keep my body strong and fit. In the starting this habit is very hard for me, later it will easy for me. I also lose some pounds of body weight. So be calm and cool to follow simple workouts steps. That will surely give you good results.
