I am patiently waiting to have my hot cross buns. Mr Calfy and i have promised ourselves hot hot cross buns with lashing of butter as a treat for Easter as we have both been very very good with our diets and losing weight. Mr Calfy has lost 26 and quarter pounds (all important quarter pound) and I have now lost 11 and a quarter!
My day off today, but I have helped to feed the new calves and the tame lambs and sorted out the eggs for sale in our little "shop". I am back now and twiddling my thumbs. It feels quite deserted on the site at the moment?? How peculiar is that.
Looking back over the few months since the site started, a lot has been said done and learnt. Especially by me!
My Ra has definitely taken a back seat at the moment, and my limbs are their normal size. My knees and hips still ache when I walk and my right wrist is painful, but I am sure that is OA. I am awaiting appointments with the Physio, and podiatrist to sort out some splints and arch supports and some advice as my toes have definitely started to wander off the straight and narrow.
But all in all, how I am now compared to when I first took the Mx back December, is quite good. I couldn't imagine living through the last few months back then and I couldn't wait for the Mx to kick in. I often wondered if it would work at all, and I was swallowing pain killers faster than they could make them.
Its' still very frustrating when someone asks how you are and people really don;t understand what you have even when you think you have explained. After protracted e mails and messages to my brother, he wrote to me the other day and hoped that I would get better soon, not sure what that means when you have RA, as some days are better than others aren't they.
Any road up I think I have started to learn to live with the disease and I still have moments when I wish to goodness I never had it, but I have, but I think it's running behind me now. I hope I can keep it there.
Have a lovely peaceful restful Easter everyone and remember PACE PACE PACE YOURSELF......
Enjoy your buns and butter, yummy! Hope you have a 'happy ill' easter too x p.s I have a little boy who would just love to eat that huge egg!

Lovely blog Julie as usual, my brother said something similar lately, I know exactly what you mean, oh well onward & upward. Glad to hear methotrexate alone seems to have helped you. Happy Easter Hon!
Hi Julie, firstly well done to you Mr calfy! inbetweenjobs!shepherd! who knows? lol on your weight loss.
Some of my family still ask "are you better!!" and that's after 17 yrs, some of them will never understand.
Enjoying your blogs Julie & others - they bring a smile to my day & relief that others voice what I have struggled to do so since diagnosis!!
So relate to the 'are you better' or 'you look really well' - little do they know. Thanks good ness for those who do understand & see behind the smiles & the pushing on.
Have a great Easter everyone - lots of sunshine, complete with factor 50+, chocolate & fun hopefully.
xx
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I just tell it like it is. Unfortunately that sometimes gets me into trouble especially with some people who have trouble with the truth. That is usually people with "in-law" after their names. Ooops, going off track a little....
I really loved the hot coss buns, and the butter was... well.. you know.
I am going to resist chocolate, as it is not a case of a little bit here and there with me, once I have the taste, I can't stop... same goes for Mr Calfy, who is at this moment feeding his calfys (spelt wrong). They are rather cute,, must get a piccy.
So thanks again, and it really makes me feel good to know I actually cheer you up sometimes and my blogs are useful. Thanks a million... xxx
Oh forbidden fruit…So yummy…mmm, hot cross buns, I did the same, just the one mind!
Well done you two on the weight loss why do our men loose more, not fair!! George is back to the weight he was when I met him, 20 odd yrs ago. I don't think I'll ever be that lucky, hey ho.
"In-laws" hmmm, had to laugh & agree there.
I get on with it & I don't moan about it, think it was the way I was bought up & my "glass half full/Pollyanna" outlook (for which I'm grateful), however sometimes I do say it "How it is" with attitude to anyone who needs to be told, ha, ha!
The worst is when they tell you about the OA in their one finger, comparing themselves to you, hello!!
Enjoy the sunshine & Happy Easter xxx
Hi Julie
Fantastic weight loss for you and Mr Calfy. I'm seriously impressed and think you thoroughly deserved your Hot Cross buns
Really good to hear that the Mtx is helping. Long may it last xxx
Glad to hear that you've lost weight, so go ahead and enjoy your buns. People don't understand how this disease really works as when they look at you they see a lady who outwardly looks well, sadly thats not the case. I do my bit by getting my nails done all different colours and next month i'm changing my hair colour and when i've done that i will post it on here for all to see. have a lovely easter. sylvi. xx
well done on weight loss im up down up on the whole up on the weight front
