Shingrix and Tocilizumab

Hello, hope the lovely weather is helping everyone a little….

Anyone else with the same combination? I had the vaccine yesterday and my, does my arm hurt today, I can’t raise it and my underarm is also sore.

That aside, just to ask how long a gap did you leave until you injected Tocilizumab again?

I inject fortnightly due to low neutrophils and was due this Tuesday but held off because of having the vaccine yesterday, then Rheumatology told me to wait another week.

I’m in a lot of pain everywhere, could be because I’m overdue my injection or a reaction to the vaccine but anyway, I’m desperate for my next Tocilizumab and don’t think I can wait a week!

Best wishes to everyone. Apologies I done contribute often, I’m stretched with my family and mum with dementia but appreciate being able to come here for your thoughts x

I’m on tocilizumab and like you only inject fortnightly due to low neutrophils. I wasn’t given any advice re waiting a week to take my toc. I took it a few days after the shingrix. A couple of days after the toc I went down with a severe chest infection and had to miss another two doses!

I had the shingles vaccine too and wasn’t given any advice re missing my fortnightly injection. No side affects at all.

hi. I was on Tocilizimab last year and stopped one week before and two weeks after my flu vaccination. I still had a flare though. If I left off the Tocilizimab more than three weeks I’d find it hard to get the balance back When I had a total knee replacement ent I only stopped three weeks

Thanks all, it’s a balancing act isn’t it. I can’t hold off the Tocilizumab much longer.

It sounds like there’s no specific guidance then, just depends who you ask and how long you can tolerate being without your medication…
