has anyone else suffered with vitamin D deficiency and low ferritin levels? If so, has this made a difference with your level of rheumatoid pain?

I haven’t got low vitamin D levels as my rheumatologist recommended I take vitamin D and calcium on my first visit to him.

I've suffered with both. Low ferretin is constantly an issue so I've now been put on daily supplements. Vitamin d was a once off but I now take it fairly regularly. I would say it has definitely made a difference but whether it's to the rheumatoid systems or to the symptoms that come with having low ferritin I'm not sure.

Low Vitamin D is very common with autoimmune diseases and it very often results in bone weakness. We almost always end up on high dose Vitamin D at least once per year, even with a regular Vitamin D supplement. And we supplement with a Vitamin B and Calcium complex as well. Best wishes.

Low vitamin D levels are very common in people when diagnosed with auto-immune conditions. The low iron levels come along with the condition. So low vit D is a precursor, low iron is a result, as I understand it.

I take vitamin D, vitamin K2 (a co-factor) magnesium and iron.

See your GP or rheumatologist before you take any supplements as low ferritin can be a sign of something other than auto autoimmune

Yes I have low vitamin D without medication, I'm on Strivit D3.

Also low Ferritin for years, I have Chronic anaemia which can be a complication of RA but mine is from RA and stage 4 CKD.

I can't say it's made a difference to pain tbh because even when my levels are good I still have pain.

My vitamin D was prescribed by my diabetic consultant and I have IV iron and EPO injections prescribed by my Renal team x

I had very low ferritin and also underactive thyroid, this happened after I was diagnosed with RA, never had any issues before. I had an iron infusion and the Dr told me it’s very common for low iron & thyroid to appear with autoimmune conditions, he said the autoimmune antibodies make it difficult for iron to be absorbed. My vitamin D was a bit low but now I take supplements.

Hi

I take potent supplements which contain vitamin D along with many other trace minerals, omegas and therapeutic-grade essential oil. Vitamin D should be taken all year round and is fundamental for our health whether we have an autoimmune disease or not. This has helped my low ferritin levels and also my inflammation.

I use Doterra life long vitality supplements.

Good luck xx
