Off topic - off to find some sun

Hi all.

As many of you may know, this month marks two years since I was viciously struck down by RA (official diagnosis a few months later). Since then I have had mixed results from various meds but I still haven’t found ‘the one’. Some have given a little relief but even when I thought I was tolerating the side effects, my liver, gall bladder and blood pressure had other ideas. I started on Yuflyma over four months ago but this brutal disease is still not playing ball. My small joints have improved a bit but my big joints (shoulders, hips and knees) are still extremely painful.

TBH I’m feeling rather fed up about it all so we’ve decided we need a holiday. I have had a good old steroid injection today and I’ll be getting on a plane to the Costa del Sol this weekend with my lovely husband. We haven’t travelled abroad since before the pandemic so hopefully it will be a real treat. We’ve chosen a nice hotel with an indoor pool and spa, extra leg room on the plane and fast track passes for the airport (hopefully this will minimise the standing around). I know it won’t be ‘hot’ at this time of year but it will be a lot nicer than the UK so that’s good enough for me and I’m hoping it will lift my mood if nothing else. I’m going to read books, try to swim and detox from my phone, so I’ll catch up on all the community news when I get back. Stay as well as you can.

Adios for now,

Spin xx

We went to Corfu in October and it tea helped my joint pain, I was able to walk everywhere and use the stairs instead of the lift, the warmth and sun is such an amazing feeling, have a lovely time and you will benefit 😃

Hope you have a lovely time. I always think I’d rather have RA pain in a warmer climate than stuck here in the UK. I think I was born in the wrong country 😂.

Thank you all. I was talking to the nurse about it and she said it's not just anecdotal, there's scientific evidence as to why we feel better in better weather. Perhaps we've got it all wrong...get rid of the drugs and have endless holidays on prescription! 🤣
