I keep getting a line of painful spots on the back of my thigh, approximately 12. I treat them with Sudocrem or topical antibiotics, they go away and then come back a few weeks later. They are red, painful and bleed. Each time they get worse.
I am on Methotrexate injections.
Has any one had anything similar? GP just thinks they are infected spots. I think the fact they are in an exact line means something. ? autoimmune related.
I am going to contact the rheumy team.
thanks all

I don’t wish to be rude but your GP has prescibed something after seeing the spots so as he/she is the expert it might be better to ask to see them again. I just don’t see how spots being in a line could be coming and going unless it’s nerve endings and therefore Shingles but your GP would obviously know that. Are they in a fold of skin that gets damp with sweat?
I think you should follow your GP’s advice and go back, as m-l says, if the infection doesn’t clear. There are many things not immune related which can cause spots and infections so you may need different treatments. Best of luck.
note my diagnosis is Adult onset Stills disease which for me manifests as RD. Diagnosed aged 17 in 1979 now 62 and serious drug free since my mid 20s. My main ever present symptoms are sore throat, joint pain, stiffness and immobility, other AI conditions such as Lichen Sclerosous, dry eyes and strange skin rashes in lines and patterns mainly in my torso but in recent years spreading to limbs. These start as tiny rub numbs under the skin, sore and itchy once above the skin. They bleed if scratched and then turn into scaly warty brown lesions which continue to grow thereafter. The spiral patterns and linear growth convinced me it’s RD related. GP clueless and disinterested so I treat sparingly with steroid cream prescribed for LS. However they are very prevalent and visible through light clothes especially those in my breasts and mid back. About 15 years ago I paid to have some removed but they returned. I tested negative for Celiac disease but may be intolerant and it could be DH. They flare when I’m unwell and Sudocream helps a little. That’s all I can tell you but I’m certain my rash originates from my RD
