Lost my voice

Hiya, I am on methotrexate and hydroxy and recently had a steroid injection. Got a cold about 2.5 weeks ago which has gone but I have lost my voice not completely but it is very raspy and horse I am also quite dizzy and just generally feel unwell. Is this something I will just need to work through or should I be seeking medical advice. I am quite new to RA and this is the first illness I've had since being on the medication and not sure what to expect 🙃

I feel you must contact your GP as it sounds like an infection. You might need antibiotics. I hope your feeling better soon the last cold I had a couple of months ago took a few weeks to get over but they can cause chest infections.

Progressive RA can affect the vocal cords, too. Contact your MD.

The RA and medications are unpredictable. It takes longer to get over a simple cold due to the immune system being suppressed.

As long as there is no fever, it’s just your body trying to recover fighting the odds.

Sorry to hear you are unwell following a cold. I always take Multiaction Actifed tablets as soon as I start sneezing with secretions. I used to get frequent sinusitis and stopping the secretions seems to prevent this happening. I have had Covid 3 times and took the same treatment which I think may have prevented chest infections. On immunosuppressive medications we have to watch the symptoms and signs more carefully. It’s challenging!

Hope you get the help you need.
