Not a problem for me. Botox for severe muscle spasms and headaches.

We can’t advise on something like that….what is safe for one patient may not be safe for another.

Always consult your doctors before taking anything you are not sure of.

Hi The reply was for encouragement

Myself personally not had it ,

Familiy member ,got one for neck spasms

And lip fillers, 1/2 dose

Another friend has had a few in different places ,but don't know where, very noticeable, bit ott,

I also looked it up when read post ,

Seems good feedback for people on RA meds

Do not just go for it that is not good advice as that person doesn’t know you or your health. Please take advice from your doctors who know you and not a random person online who doesn’t and hasn’t even experienced it 🙄

A friend of mine goes to the place where they train the dentists and doctors to do it. So she gets injected under medical supervision. It's also for a line in her forehead and works really well. I've had one ear piercing done since starting meds and it took a year to heal with recurring infection, so I'd advise really weighing up your options on this. I did ask the consultant before I got the piercing and was told it would be ok.

That is irresponsible…please don’t give this sort of advice …..any cosmetic injections should only be given by a qualified medical practitioner who has examined the patient and chosen the substance to be injected.

You should never go to a hairdresser or a beautician to you have something like this done.

Hi, nothing wrong with us RA ladies or guys to want to have a little tweakment with a cosmetic injection. I would always check with your RA team before you go ahead and always have it done by a medically trained practitioner. I was thinking about it a while ago and I was advised it was ok but if on steroids it could affect the healing process, you usually sign a consent form as well. I have found as well that some of their insurance companies won’t cover them for immune suppressed Clients and some of the meds were on. I was going to have mine done by my Dentist. Good luck if you go ahead let us know!

I have Botox in my jaw muscles due to Temporomandibular joint disorder. It’s a very painful procedure as they go quite deep into the muscles but it really helps me with pain in my jaw and earache on one side. The maxillofacial consultant I see is lovely and she always says sorry for hurting me 😂😂

Don’t take risks, consult with your medical team prior to any invasive cosmetic treatment . Follow the sound advice from Amy from NRAS. If you are on biologic medication, as you asked about this specifically, you are immune suppressed and it is unlikely that providers of these cosmetic treatments will have insurance to cover them if anything goes wrong. So if they have any sense they would not inject Botox into you.

A lot of the above replies relate to medical Botox treatments performed by dentists and doctors under sterile conditions using medical Botox..

Consult your rheumy team.

I have Botox for cosmetic reasons but doctor won' t allow fillers - risk of infection too high when on immune suppressants

I am on Biologic for RA. i checked eith Rheumy and I only get it done by a Gp who trained in Aesthetics and has his own clinic. I also have some Neutopenia, and still ok. For my own piece of mind i leave my injection off that week. Check with your Rheum but they seem to know lots of prople who have it,
