COVID vaccine side effects

I missed the Spring covid booster because I was diagnosed with FND last Autumn. I hadn't given it a thought but my GP asked if I thought it was connected to the covid vaccination. I Googled and there is quite a lot about it but I haven't heard of anyone mentioning it. Now I have no idea whether to have this year's jab and my surgery are doing it together with a flu one. Last year I wasn't allowed to have them separately. I hope someone can help me decide.

You can book both Covid and Flu vaccines online at local pharmacies so you could have them separately that way if you wanted to.

I didn't realize pharmacies are doing the covid one this time? Thank you I will look into it.

The vaccines that are being used this autumn are Moderna Spikevax and Phizer Corninarty. Doctors surgery’s and pharmacies will have one or the other. Both are considered equally as good and official advice is you should accept whichever you are offered. More detail can be found on this website gov.uk/government/publicati... I’ve screenshot the relevant bit.

What is FND? To be helpful for newcomers, and people not aware of other disease abbreviations, it may be helpful if posters could write out full term once then use the abbreviation version thereafter.

Sorry, Functional neurogical disfunction. I my case one day my legs just gave way and another day I was unable to use my left arm. On another occasion it felt like lot's of wasps stinging in my knees. Another day I had a sort of fit where I couldn't stop my body from what looked like a proper fit. My rheumatologist just told me to look at a website. I went to A and E but they just examined me and gave me an appointment for a hospital GP the next day as it was Sunday. He thought FND and refferred me to a neurologist. I waited for several months for an appointment. When I saw the Dr she just tested my legs reflexes and agreed FND and discharged me. I asked about my arm and she said that it was all functional and we had run out of time. I saw an accupucturist who has helped a lot.

Ther has been issues with some people developing heart, inflammatory and nerve conditions with the jabs. Many are trying for compensation. Interesting that your GP is questioning.

Ultimately it's up to you. Do you think it triggered your issue? Also up to you to decide to take it...or not. No one can advise you on that. I personally didn't have any.

I really don't know because I have had 8 covid vaccinations so not long in between. I can think back to other strange happenings but I was told I have fibromyalgia. I'm not sure I have, I have Regional pain syndrome, again my GP guessing at this. I have seen many people with different opinions. It depends how soon after the vaccine I would get these symptoms? Not the one my Dr was talking about but the previous one was June I think. I have had tingling in my legs for some time but what I think was FND was reallyike being stung over and over by wasps.

Sounds truly awful whatever caused it. Could you ask advice from medics on the suitability of the jab given your condition?

I could but more than likely wouldn't trust them. They are paid to promote vaccinations and cholesterol drugs. The rheumatologists all have different opinions and my particular one I only see less than once a year. I saw him 2 weeks ago and he was so late I only had 10 minutes with him because he ran out of time.

I get your point. If it was me I wouldn't take another, but I'm not you! I don't take them due to serious allergies. I was also scared of triggering more pain.

Your decision. Good luck . ☺️

Did you have covid vaccine while on rheumatoid arthritis medication

Bailybiscuit profile image
Bailybiscuit in reply toDexter1414

I haven't had the vaccine this time yet but I was told to miss a week before. In the past I have also been told it didn't need to be stopped.

I’ve been told to continue taking methotrexate

That's strange how they tell people different things. I reckon they are experimenting with us.

It makes you wonder doesn't it? I don't think any GP or Rheumatologist would really say the vaccines were responsible even if they thought it did. I was surprised at what my GP said but she was so different and so caring and she decided last year she had had enough and was going to be a locum as she wanted to enjoy her life more. I think she took an interest in me as I just developed PMR and she joined the practice. At first she was phoning me with instructions about putting steroids up or down very often and she was more like a friend to talk to, very rare I know.

I agree it's controversial but my mum had a great saying 'speak as you find' and my hubby found like you, the vaccine affected him. He had mild peripheral neuropathy which rocketed after his second and third COVID jabs and it's a struggle for him walking etc, needs his food cut up and can no longer garden or drive. No more COVID jabs as he also developed vasculitis. Trying to find out now if the RSV vaccine is Mrna as we've both been invited for these.

Oh dear another one to think about. I hadn't thought about Vasculitis and the jabs as I have a P ANCA + and believeit means I could test positive for it. My mother had it

sunshineday profile image
sunshineday in reply toBailybiscuit

Hope the vasculitis doesn't affect you. Hubby is anti-MPO Anca which was diagnosed when he had a nerve biopsy to find out the cause of his peripheral neuropathy after it had deteriorated so much
