Steriod injection

I had a steroid injection in my elbow back in June. The first period i had after was late and really heavy- mine are usually light and 3-4days long. This one was 8 days! I’ve had a break of a week and now another period!

Is it linked to the steroid injection and if so why do they not tell you about it as a side effect?

I doubt it's linked, but I'm not a doc so don't know for sure. More likely just fluke I would have thought.

You haven't said how old you are?

From I understand steroids do not affect your monthly cycle. But you may need to discuss with your doctor as we are not medically trained to give you an answer.

Hi. It could be random, but if you google side effects to steroids you will see menstrual changes on the list. I would have thought it was less likely with an intra articular injection than general IM or tabs....? i guess if all possible side effects were mentioned nobody would take anything! i hope all settles back to normal.

That's not usually listed as a side-effect of a steroid injection. If the irregularity continues, please seek medical advice!

When I had steroid injections my cycle was affected but it is a quite a time ago now and cannot remember clearly but think it was I would come on soon after the injection but after that things were normal.
