I received my second (recombinant) shingles vaccine yesterday. The first one caused a mild fever and malaise. This time my finger joints are stiff and pretty painful. Has anyone else had something similar and, if so, how long did it last?
Thanks so much

Yes,yes! I had Shringrix no 2 last Thursday and today is the first day I've felt anything approaching 'normal for me'. Friday, I spent the whole day in bed, which I never do. Then 3 day migraine. Saturday my arm went completely red and itchy. I have not felt so ill for a long time. Never again. I hope you feel better soon.
I had the first dose last October, it made me so ill I can’t face the second dose. Afterwards I had a massive flare that lasted for weeks. Lots of people have had it successfully though, or maybe felt a bit off for a day…once again, we’re all different!
I’m having my second one on Thursday, didn’t have any side effects with the first one so fingers crossed I don’t have any. I’m just getting over a chest infection and I was a tad cautious about getting it.
I had a period of tiredness and a bit of a flare after each of my Shingrix injections. I had been advised to skip a Cimzia and methotrexate dose around the vaccinations. The effects were most noticeable for about a week but it took a month to fully recover. Some of this I'm sure was due to the interruption to my normal medication routine.
If I had been working rather than retired the tiredness would have been more of an issue and I might have needed a couple of days off.
Overall, if it stops me getting shingles it was worth it.
I felt a bit achy after my first one but not too bad. Still to have the second one as I had to cancel it twice because of infections. Was booked to have it yesterday but when the rheumy nurse rang me last week to tell me my neutrophils were low and I needed to have repeat bloods in 2 weeks she told me to postpone the shingles jab until white cell count/neutrophils recover. I feel I could be waiting a long time!
I've just had my 1st injection and didn't realise until then that it's 2 part. My arm is a bit sore and I feel a bit tired, but they could be due to other things that are happening in my life. Not looking forward to the 2nd one now. But I don't want Shingles again either. I hope you recover soon. All the posts proves, as we all know, that we are all so different in how things effect us. Part of the joys of RA and Auto immune conditions! Look after yourself.
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your replies. Last night was pretty rough with fever and flu-like symptoms, painful fingers. Feeling better this morning and glad there are only 2 doses!
