I have RA and was on bio similar amgevita for the first and second trimester, stopped at 28weeks. I was told by the pediatrician that the baby cannot have live vaccine for 6 months. My rheumatologist said if the baby is full term, can have live vaccines after 28days.
I am confused.
Can you share your experience with using biologics during pregnancy and the live vaccine schedule for the baby?

I don’t know the answer, but if I were in your shoes, I would listen to my paediatrician. …I don’t think many Rheumatologists have very much knowledge in the OB/GYN field. . Maybe ask one of the Rheumatology Nurses,if you have them in .HK…they probably have more experience of dealing with pregnant women & the new baby than your Rheumatologist.
The main live vaccine in MMR. For other reasons I delayed getting my babies this until they were 15 mths but most babies get it at a year so it may not matter, which advice you follow. The chicken pox vaccine is live but not routine and flu spray which is given in schools etc but there is an inactivated injection form. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy. 😘
Like u I was on biologic cimzia during my whole pregnancy and I was advised by my rheumatology team no live vaccines for baby till after 6months. As they are immunocommprised due to being on the biologic. We missed the rota virus vaccine but got everything else. We are based in Ireland
Hi, it is difficult when different specialists looking after you give different advice. The only live vaccine that a baby gets at 8weeks and 12 weeks is rotavirus which protects them against a type of gastroenteritis. The rest at that stage are not live vaccines. MMR isn’t given till aged 1. Your rheumatologist might not know that the vaccination schedule now includes rotavirus as it relatively new.
Perhaps you could mention to them about the different information you were given and they might speak to one another and clarify the situation so that you won’t worry unnecessarily.
