it’s probably worth speaking to your supplier for their advice because you will need to get something that’ll accurately keep them within a certain temp range until you use them and they will have experience of giving people this kind of advice. You could also do a search on here as this has been asked before so there may be some helpful answers there too.
I use a bag from this company. Mine holds 4 pens, but this one should hold enough. The max time I’ve needed it was 12 hrs and it kept my injections below 8 degrees the whole time. They are pricey but do the job.
Hi 👋 Please see if the section on how to store Benepali section in the patient information sheet which comes with the medication is helpful. I followed the advice and went to Malaysia for a month without keeping my pens refrigeratored and was fine.
This is my experience but do check with your rheumatology team as well.
All the best x
I think that you will find that the medigenix bag is not cold sufficiently long enough for a trip to Australia . I went to Japan (via Hong Kong) and it wasn't. I remember another member recommended a flask from an American company called, I think, 4All family. It was very expensive but might be worth some research.
Please contact the company that supplies it and ask to speak to their pharmacist. They should be able to give you the best advice and maybe able to supply something.
I was told that Benepali can be used for up to a month without being refrigerated. Please check though!
Medigenix is the one I use and it’s very effective. Good to have one with the temperature indicator on the outside of the bag. And strongly deter Airport Security from opening the bag!!!! Be sure to have your letter to hand explaining what drugs you have and the need for strict temp. control. Happy travels !!
Hi! I will be travelling soon and using Medigenix too! can i ask you about your experience with airport security? do they scan it?
I had one occasion when, despite the supporting Consultant letter. Prescription, Bag information and my protest the airport security guy insisted on wanting to open the bag …before I let him do so, I demanded the presence of a senior member of their staff … who inspected the docs and allowed me through without opening the bag. It all took time - but worth it! Most other occasions nobody has even checked the paperwork let alone want to open the bag!! But Im always prepared- including allowing extra time!!
I have storage boxes from the diabetic society that work well but check with the company x
Having travel with my meds since 2011 sometimes 29hours or more at onetime. Using a small cold box with bags of ice. Ice lasts longer than freezer packs, taking several leakproof bags and refilling on route.
adding my two cents as im embarking also on a trip, mine is to thailand.
I had the same question last week and I was reccomended this which lasts up to 30 hours: medigenix.co.uk/icool-medic...
Feel free to call their customer service, they are kind and helpful
I will use it in 10 days! if you want I can update you afterwards
My husband & I are travelling to New Zealand next week for the 5th time but it is the first time I will be taking with me 4 Benepali pens. After a lot of research and talking to others with experience of travelling with Benepali I’ve bought a Disoncare 74hour Insulin Pens Cooler (£79 on Amazon) because our total travel time is 38 hours and the smaller cooler would only accommodate 3 pens. I’ve had a trial run and after 72 hours the cooler temperature was 7degrees.
