I had a pharyngeal pouch repair on Wednesday, they put 3 staples in my throat to close it, has anyone else had this done, and how long was it to feel ok again ?

No I,’m afraid I don’t have any info for you, but I will be very interested in the answers you get as I am on a path that may lead to that procedure.

I hope you feel comfortable very soon.

Thank you, I thought I would be a lot worse than I am actually, I expected to have a sore throat and not be able to swallow anything for a few days,

I just keep taking Co codamol every 4 hours , and drinking warm drinks,

It’s painful to cough or clear your throat, but I’ll soon feel better , hopefully

Good luck with your procedure too.

I had it done about 4 years ago. I was on an NG tube Nil by mouth for two weeks prior to surgery and 5 days after. Did you have it done Endoscopic ?

or like me a surgery procedure through my neck

Hi thank you for your reply, I was able to eat until the night before, then drink clear fluids until 7am. Yes I had the Endoscopic, thank goodness. I was hoping I didn’t have the surgery.

So I was able to eat soft food after 6 hours, like soup and ice cream . My throat is still sore but I expected that, I just wondered how long it will be till I feel better and able to eat something more normal.

The Endoscopic route failed for me and I was referred for surgery. I ended up with Pneumonia ,as food and drink were being aspirated into my lungs ,hence the Nasal gastric tube and being given everything via the tube. Just before Christmas as well Once they had the pneumonia under control I was moved to a different hospital for the surgery which was successful I hope yours is as successful

Regards

Poor you, it sounds like you had an horrendous time,

It’s certainly makes me feel a lot better, I’ve had it easy compared to you.

I really hope you are better now, with your throat and able to eat properly. Bless you 😍
