Does a head cold stop you taking covid ? My husband and my son has covid they thought it was only cold , they had it several days before they tested . I've been testing every day since as I'm on methotrexate and remsima, my tests are clear so far . I have not had my covid vaccine yet, but I have a head cold . They are now clear . But I'm still worried .

Just keep testing…& stop worrying…you could call 111 for advice…but I doubt there is anything else they can advise

My mum always told me, if god put us on this earth with nothing to worry about, you'd be the only person worrying why he hadn't given us anything to worry about!😂

I’ve got a cold too no doubt from the granddaughter on Monday so taking a sofa day. A lot of colds about this year or at least I know 3 friends with one.

Well unfortunately, if you’re going to get it you will and if your immune system rejects the virus, you won’t. Some people get a cold from being breathed on out in the street and others can be in a crowded hall with someone with a cold or Covid and never get it. Stop worrying - just raises your stress levels which I’m sure you don’t need - and hope you won’t succumb and, if you, do ask for anti virals if you’re immune suppressed as soon as you test positive. Best if luck and hope you stay clear.

I’d keep testing. If you do have the jab they say to wait 3 months after having COVID because you will have protection for about 3 months. I’m in the states so I don’t know how it works in the UK, but here you can go to your doctor or an Urgent Care facility to get the test that’s supposedly a little more accurate. Hope it’s just a cold. 🤞

When I had Covid a couple of months back, my My GP advised waiting 2-3 weeks after testing negative before I had my Covid jab.

I’ve got Covid at the moment. I’m also on methotrexate as well as sulfasaline. My husband contracted Covid initially and tested positive on Tuesday. I tested positive yesterday. I immediately phoned my GP surgery and later received a call back from a doctor. Within 20 minutes I had another call from a doctor in the ‘Covid’ unit at the hospital who asked lots of questions then prescribed the antiviral Paxlovid. Within 30 minutes of that call my Paxlovid was ready for collection at the local Boots pharmacy. Excellent service I thought! 🤞it won’t develop into anything much worse. I’ve had all my vaccines, the latest only 10 days ago. I hope you remain Covid free but if you do get it don’t worry and get in touch with your GP asap.

That’s so good that you got the antivirals so efficiently. I am on Mtx and Hydroxychloroquine and was told by my Rheumy Dr that I wouldnt qualify for antivirals if I got covid. Assume different NHS areas have different rules. I am sure the meds give you a speedy recovery !!

No you should NOT have a Covid vaccine ( or any vaccine ) if you are sick with anything. .

You must wait at least 14 days ,30 days is better . Ask your Pharmacist for guidance. Written by an RN

I’m on MXT and wouldn’t have my Covid jab if I felt unwell. My Covid jab floored me for a whole week and I’ve not had Covid either

I had my covid jab on a Tuesday at the end of September and tested positive for covid the following Saturday. I had head cold symptoms and didn’t feel to unwell. I take 25 mgs methotrexate and Benapali. I had stopped my methotrexate dose as advised for my covid jab. I didn’t bother to contact Gp or ask for anti virals after positive test. I gave the benapali a miss for the week. I tested clear of covid on the Friday. This infection of covid seemed very different to the the one I had last October when I felt really poorly for 2weeks, had a high temperature and cough. I tried to obtain antivirals then but was too late before I got through to the right team due to administrative errors.

Don’t worry to much, very few people are being admitted to hospital with severe covid today as compared to 2020. You will have some built in immunity from past vaccinations. Keep testing and if you are positive contact your Gp for advice.

My husband had COVID last week but I didn't get it. I agree with other posts, this strain is nothing like the previous. First time around (March 2021) we were quite poorly for a few days and tested positive for ten days. We'd had jabs but I didn't have RA then. This time it was more like a head cold and he was completely clear on the fifth day.

the new strain is not as severe as the original. Nurse told me to wait at least three weeks after covid to have jab🤒😷
