covid thoughts

this has been a “messy” covid with me spluttering and coughing for the last two full days and nights. Gone through so many hankies but my oxygen is at 94% on waking and pulse at 72 so fundamentally not too bad.

My pattern seems to be with covid that all my other niggles die down and I naively think am doing great then bang. Down I go with head cold symptoms , coughing , shivering and aches.

does anyone else notice their RA improves - it as if the immune has something real to fight?

Thankfully I must be on the mend as my knee is beginning to play me up.

I think it’s been mentioned before that inflamed joints some times seem calmer while a generalised infection is going on - like antibodies have got something useful to do for a change

With me it depends on the infection. When I had covid in January I was ok for a few days but then Wham!! had the mother of all flares which I still have. Currently I have a chest infection and RA isn’t behaving at all and no meds being allowed coz of antibiotics isn’t helping. If your joints are feeling easier because of the ‘virus’ you are fighting at present then that’s a good thing but unfortunately in my experience it won’t last, I have read on here though that it’s pretty common to have a holiday RA/RD wise when your immune system has other problems to deal with. I’m severely immune suppressed but still have awful symptoms and debility with RA so who knows eh.

jeez thanks- your most likely right.

After covid over Xmas I had a terrible spate of flares so am praying it doesn’t kick off again. Though I got some diclofenac on prescription which are good at calming thing’s down.

Well make sure your meds are up to date and available is my advice hopefully the aftermath of recovering from Covid again won’t be too bad but it’s always best to be prepared if you can. 🤞you don’t need the diclofenic and have a bit of good luck sounds as though you need it. If you can perhaps try and take a few more precautions with repeat covid infections I know that isn’t easy and don’t know your circumstances and covid restrictions don’t exist anymore but you can still look out for yourself. That is definitely not a criticism it’s very tough.

Yes the RA settled for me while I had covid but like others, as soon as its over - bang! the mother of all flares.
