just a quick question- I am on a tapering course of prednisolone and have my covid booster booked before the end of the course. Does anyone know if I can go ahead or should I postpone?
covid booster and prednisolone: just a quick question... - NRAS
covid booster and prednisolone
We can’t advise on that….,you need to either ask your rheumy team, or call119 for advice.
I’m not advising yo but just giving you my case. I’m a long term steroid user and have only been told to stop them prior to knee surgery.
You need to take advice from your rheumatology team. Too many varying factors to give general advice.
I'm on pred all the time and still had all my COVID and flu jags. Am sure I was on various amounts of pred over the years but say to the people doing it or your rheumy team
I'm on Prednisolone since 22/8. Now on 1 x1 day and 2 the next day. I had my COVID jab last Thursday and showed my blue card and they said it was fine. But ask Rheumy team.
I can only say my history as everyone is different,as others have said.I have been on preds since 2001 and have been on holding dose of 5 mg for last 15 years or so.now tapering from 5mg to 3 mg which I am on currently, due to success on JAK meds.Have always had every jab going, whatever meds I have been on,and have been very lucky to have not had Covid or flu.So.for me jabs have kept me safe as autoimmune suppressed.I have always checked with rheumy nurse beforehand and checked every time that jab is not live vaccine. You must check with your nurse,as they don’t seem to mind answering my questions,if I have doubts.Good luck.
I had a COVID booster while been tapered off pred early this year. My CRP marker went through the roof, but I actually suffered no symptoms and it was all fine. I suspended MTX for 10 days. I am now having a bit of a relapse and so cancelled a COVID and flu jab on advice from rheumatologist. He said just go ahead when the flare up has settled. He wasn't worried about pred plus jab...
Ofcorse go ahead ,people are already ending up in hospital and dying of the new strain of covid . Please do not wait .
