Hi. Trying to check the latest on having COVID booster and do I need to stop my Benepali jab? My appointment is later tomorrow, Tuesday 4pm. I had my last Benepali on Saturday. Can't get hold of Rheumy nurse.
I've seen they now recommend stopping mtx for 2 weeks after the booster but wondered about Benepali?
Can anyone advise please?xx

There are a few studies that looked at MTX and covid vaccine. It found those who omitted 2 weeks, had approx 22,000 U/ml, compared to 10,000U/ml in those who didn’t stop.
No just MTX. There is lots online about advice to stop MTX for 2 weeks as they've found doing this increases the vaccine efficiency. It does say it's advised but weigh up pros and cons and perhaps discuss with your doctor. Please also see runrigs reply below. X
So I’m on both benepali and MTX. I’ve never stopped my benepali. It doesn’t impact the whole immune system, only one of the many cytokines. In the case of benepali it’s the tnf cytokine. So I can’t see how stopping has an impact on antibody production. MTX however does impact the whole immune system, and the advice is to stop for 2 weeks to increase the number of antibodies. So I do always stop my MTX. I’m also on life long steroids, which I can’t stop. Despite being on this cocktail, the last time I checked my antibody levels, I had a moderate response, which I’m happy with.
