Hi everyone,

My disease activity was finally under control this summer but I’m randomly flaring in my shoulder today.

It’s not particularly hot or cold in the UK right now, but I know that the humidity is very high at the moment, could that be causing it?

I’ve only had RA for two years so this is still all new to me.

I’d prepared myself for possibly struggling in the cold winter but this seems odd.

Glad something is working for you. I have discovered that the best weather is warm and dry. Humidity or dampness or cold often cause me issues. I hope it eases soon and your meds continue to your disease under control.

I think this can be very individual but I think for many damp, humidity can affect RA. I personally love crisp cold days & dislike extremely warm hot weather. But drizzle rain damp days isn’t weather I want to be out in 🌸

I have noticed that I seem to have more difficulties/a bit of a flare if there is a sharp change in air pressure.

More often than not if one of my shoulders starts giving me more problems than usual it’s down to carrying a heavy shopping bag to far, Or some other over use. With rest it resolves.

It’s getting to know your own body, your own limits and how it reacts to out side factors, like cold heat damp air pressure and what we put into it food and drink.

I can tell its gonna rain without looking at a weather forecast. Humidity kills me. Another RA bonus. 😊

Your absolutely right Humidity and cold are my two biggest issues , I have RA and Osteoarthritis , humidity affects my RA and cold OS , earlier this year I went on my so called trip of a lifetime travelling round south east Asia, 3 weeks of feeling dreadful and a £600 doctors bill to for meds to get me through the holiday . Glad I experienced that part of the world but won’t be going back , not while I have this condition anyway , but I never say never. I’m in Tenerife writing this it’s 35c and I’m doing ok 🥵👍🤞Good luck

I have found humidity also doesn't help my inflammation, particularly when combined with heat. I guess luckily that's not a hugely common combination in the uk!

Yes, as a long-time rheumatoid wrangler I definitely prefer either warm and dry or cold and dry, but dry - humidity seems to less comfortable...
