I had my left hip replaced in 2007 and had it revised in 2018 after it started to dislocate. They didn’t do a THR in 2018 they changed the ball and the cup leaving the same stem in place. I don’t react well to general anaesthetic so I had it done with a spinal injection which allowed me to recover much quicker after surgery and meant I was only in 3 days rather than the 9 when I had the original surgery. Recovery wasn’t as quick post surgery and I had a lot more pain but I’m back to normal and doing everything I did before.
Hi. I’ve had both mine done seven years apart -2014 and 2021 - and no problems (well, so far, mitts crossed 🥴) and have had RA for 34 years. Sounds like you need an MOT for yours from an orthopod and possible revision or replacement as 22 years is pretty good going for a hip put in that long ago. Best of luck and hope they sort you out very soon!
