So I waited till Tuesday, with the bank holiday. Rang and asked for a specific GP. Got his last appointment so wasn't seen by him till 4pm. He agreed it needs sorted so we decided a+e probably best.
18 hours later have had one dose of IV antibiotics. Some paracetamol.
Still not actually spoken to a Doctor.
I'm exhausted from lack of sleep and being sore.
Sorry it's not better news.

Dear WJF I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope by the time you read this you will have been seen by a doctor and given the appropriate care. Bon x
I've seen a Dr now. Yesterday 3pm. I was so exhausted and upset couldn't have rational conversation. They think I've an ongoing chest infection (maybe since December).
Told my friend yesterday I'm like a medical hot potato...no one wants to try and sort this mess out. 🙈
I’ve had 2 recent episodes in A&E. The first was 8th July, went to local urgent treatment centre, where I was sent to A&E due to falling 6 days previously. I’d already attended the UTC 6 days previously and had a gash treated. This time it was severe pain in my leg, that was ignored as they wanted to rule out fracture of the spine and pelvis. I spent 16hrs in A&E, 4hrs till I had my blood pressure checked, and bloods taken, then another 2hrs to see a Dr. Then at midnight was taken for a CT scan. Which was clear of fractures. Given some steroids for leg pain, which hadn’t been examined.
Leg continued to cause pain, till I became housebound 2 weeks ago, and bedbound 9 days ago, with the pain now scoring 8/10 again, like my first A&E visit. 111 called an ambulance who refused to take me in, and said gp would managed pain. Which is a whole other story. When gp came o duty she phoned for an ambulance as she felt we “were missing something”. I’d been telling her for 8 weeks it was my knee and I suspected tendonitis which comes with AS. Spent 11hrs this time in an A&E corridor, seen by dr who says I need urgent mri as looks like a torn ligament as well as tendonitis. Despite being urgent she said it would be 2-3 days, as there was no hospital beds I could go home, and I’d be called back, have scan them return to A&E for result anc treatment plan. That was 5 days ago, and still waiting on scan. We’ve phoned mri who say they d been inundated with urgent requests, but should be before the weekend. So I’m sure I’ll have another lengthy A&E wait for the results when scan is done. The meds she gave me to cope till she seen me again are now finished, as she only gave a 5 day supply. It’s all very frustrating.
Hope your antibiotics are starting to help, and that you’re not in a corridor. Privacy goes out the window, I had to bare my bum for a pain injection.
Gosh. I feel your pain. I was here in December with pneumonia but they didn't keep me as they had no beds. Now they are thinking it never cleared up right. I've not really been right since that.
I'm in a corner outside some other cubicles. I got a bed last night no pillow, no blanket but my husband had brought me in one and a change of clothes.
I'm here 38hrs now. Still I feel a bit better and a bit less sore.
Sorry to hear you’re still not on a ward. I was given the option of staying in the corridor, and suspect I’d still be there if I’d stayed. I’m chasing mri again today, so fingers crossed 🤞. I’ve now run out of the Diclofenac suppositories and diazepam for the muscle spasms, so dreading tonight, as I’m sure my gp will refuse to prescribe them. Hopefully you feel better soon 🤗
I’m not sure you’ve seen my recent post, where with a pain score of 8/10, she suggested I remove mh butec pain patch, and hold off taking tramadol. This was after a paramedic doing a home visit, and seeing I clearly needed more pain relief. She wants to switch me to Zomorph, which I’m fine with, once this acute episode is over. She is the reason that I have lived with ligament and tendon damage for 8 weeks. A&E dr says I’ve probably caused more damage by continuing to walk on it. She is pleasant but dipsy. May send an email with photo of the A&E prescription to prove it was issued. 😂🤗
I saw it. I was prescribed morphine in hospital for a partially collapsed lung and one of GPs rang me questioning it and suggesting I didn't need it. That was three weeks into the December pneumonia incident. It's only when we are in agony we expose ourselves to the pain of GPs. 🙈
In a previous post I told how a month ago I rang the GP and said how I was really tired. He told me at 46 I was probably menopausal and what did I expect...🤣
Disgraceful, unfortunately I’m not surprised. I started my menopause at 47, which is what seems to have triggered the polymyalgia. For years I had repeated back pain, which was put down to my career as a trauma nurse. The expert in Leeds looking after my PMR/GCA suspected more going on. Turned out I was living with ankylosing spondylitis for over 25yrs. Quickly started on biologics, as it was still active despite steroids and nsaids. 🤗
Ohhhh take that discharge letter and make sure you take a copy to GP yes they get sent it BUT this way you can ask for Practice Manager and make your point at same time! When you have the energy for the battle 🥰
Sorry to read your update Wjf, what a state our hospitals seem to be in currently. I do hope that you feel better soon and that they can get to the bottom of it and let you go home! 🤗
