Skechers feel like walking on springy well mown lawns.

Well today Skechers trainers arrived. Bit difficult getting them on but with a long shoe horn I managed it. Wide enough and comfortable. Bought them at Amazon for £29.99 I think that's a bargain

That's great my feets a disaster , have to give them a try . Really good price 👍 thanks .

Neonkittie17 in reply to Jackie1947

That sounds very good to me. Mine were £90 last year but I wanted a specific sole which was, no surprise, more expensive. 🤨 Worth it for my mad foot though. I always use a long shoe horn as one foot is wider and needs some manoeuvring in! Hope they help you.

Many Skechers trainers are quite generous in width. I’d say they were an E-EE for their “relaxed fit”. Loads of styles and colours. Theirs used to be quite flat and then the last few years there are more chunky styles too. They’re the best trainers I’ve had as they have good support under foot and width and Hotter and similar are quite flat for my requirements, but I do need quite a bit of padding under the heel and sole. I’ve got some great looking silver Fitflops too but they aren’t quite as generous in width but still wider than several brands I’ve tried.

Can't wear sandals or flip-flops (wish I could ) but I will definitely try the sketchers . Thank you 👍

Hi, “Fitflop” is the brand name and although they do make luxury type flip flops they do no end of boots, shoes slippers and sandals.

Yes, they have some good tech construction in the soles and often removable inner soles too.

Not cheap but Merrell shoes are good for me. Range of styles from gaudy to plain. Fit my swollen toes well. Seem durable too.

Have you tried mens trainers. My daughter has really large and wide feet and she buys mens trainers as they are much bigger so much so she gets a size 9 in women's but a size 8 in mens. Might be worth a try.

Grounsel profile image
Grounsel in reply to Juliesb

Yes I would buy mens trainers but most of them starts at size 7 I'm a 6.5 and they're too big . 👍

Hi. I have extra wide problem feet as well and always struggle with footwear. Have just ordered some trainers from DB Wider Fit Shoes (check them out). They do a 6E width which is a really wide fit. Some of the styles are old fashioned but some are ok; I've had a couple of pairs from them. The style I ordered was Diss. Good luck.

Ps sketchers don't always support your feet the podiatrist said if your shoes bend in the middle they won't support your feet

Grounsel profile image
Grounsel in reply to Bethany02

That was why I always got brooks but lighter colours seem hard to get in my size .

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to Bethany02

My Skechers have a really strong but not hard, lightweight sole and you can’t bend them which was the reason I chose them. I like the soles of Fitflop too. They have very technical, great construction and lovely modern styles if you’re wanting something fashionable as well.

i wear Hoka Rincon 3 in the wide fit (d?)

Very light with a thick cushioned sole.

Before I bought, I tried several other Hoka styles but these were the most comfortable for me with wide feet and RA.

Sports direct have them on sale sometimes at a fair price around £60-70.

Lovely bright colours, I have 3 pairs so I can recommend.

Hi, I was advised by my osteo consultant to buy some Hokas! He brought them up on his computer to show me. That was over 4 years ago and I’m so glad he did. My rheumatoid feet are not good and these have enabled me to walk good distances now without pain. I’m on my 4th pair, they’re not cheap but so worth it. He said my sketchers were too supple, you can bend them easily.

Grounsel profile image
Grounsel in reply to Smw-69

I will have a look at hokas . I have lots of shoes and trainers I thought were OK but when I wore them a while they weren't. I don't mind paying for something that dosent hurt . Brooks are very good but my size is often sold out .

I’ve got fitflop rally trainers, the ones with the Velcro straps not laces. Have found them really comfortable and can adjust the width. I couldn’t get on with sketchers but we’re all different and what suits one of won’t another.

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to RachelD1972

Rally for me too! Very comfy and lovely soft leather but verge on sometimes feeling a tad low under heel for me after a couple of hours, but I wear them for shorter periods inside and a more wedgy type black leather pair for outside. Can’t recall their name. Both gorgeous, as is all their footwear. No I don’t wear/have other Skechers trainers as they’re normally too low but the lightweight wedge type ones are very unusual. They are sold as workwear for people standing all day etc. They’ve actually helped strengthen my ankles.

tip - insert foam powder puffs under heels or the insert, works a treat and suggested by my physio. Boots sell powder puffs in tiny boxes of two for a pound or so and they are washable( to a degree ) so last a while.

Neonkittie17 in reply to Stills

I have tried this thank you in the past but they quickly squashed down to nothing within a couple of days of me doing so and even doing this irritates under my heel. My feet are so, so weird! 😝 I think it could help people though so good idea. I bought some heel orthotics but it was like torture!! You just keep trying until something works and then ... relief! 💗 x

silver sneakers, as worn by the original Dr Who Cybermen circa 1971?

Neonkittie17 profile image
Neonkittie17 in reply to Stills

Yes, I’ll be getting the silver jeans and top next!! I’ll give the headdress a miss though. 😉 They are quite matte so not baco foil cyber-WOMAN! They go perfect with white or pink trousers/outfit or jeans. I’ve always had a thing for silver shoes since I was a child.

agree with you in sketchers they vary enormously but the arch support wedge ones about £100 are reasonable

Dear Grounsel,

There ARE 'Specialist' Shops, I use one- about seven miles, from my home. There are also 'Kosy Feet', 'DB' and other similar Companies. I used to have Friends, who ran a Mobility Shop, some years ago now..... Long since retired, although I do still see them, occasionally. Try a Local Search, either On Line, or in the Local Directory.

'My' shop will 'Do' Split Sizes (say a five and an eight), 'Deals' on Multiple Purchases and MANY 'Offers', if you ask. The Proprietors is also Very Friendly, and Knowledgeable- a Genuine 'Nothing Is Too Much Trouble Shop'...... a bit expensive, BUT it IS 'Worth It'.

Maybe ask at Your Local Community Centre- they're not ALL Bingo & Knitting!

Enjoy the Warmer Weather.
