Hyco San Extra for dry eyes

I have been advised to use Hyco San Extra for dry eyes, has anyone else used this and did it work?

Does anyone know if dry eyes, blepharitis, or aura without migraine could be the result of RD or side effects of prednisolone?

Thanks.

Hi Rachel. I have been using these drops for around two months now along with hylo night cream at night. They are certainly helping a bit for sure.

Dry eyes and blepharitis are pretty common I am told with RD. Being female and over 40 which I am in my case can also cause dry eyes according to my optician too. x

Hello Summerrain14, I’m glad they are helping you.

Do you have blepharitis too?

Yes I have blepharitis too. I bath my eyes daily and use a heat mask as recommended by the optician too as well as my eye drops and cream 😊

Is the blepharitis an ongoing condition or can it clear up quite quickly.

Sorry about the questions, I only found out a couple of days ago.

For me it is ongoing but very mildly so I just keep up the daily bathing and eye mask as a bit of a preventative measure. I have been using drops and eye ointments for well over 25 years now daily and they certainly do help a bit. Keep asking any questions as we are all here to help in any way we can, it is never any trouble at all. 😊

Dry eyes are commoner as you get older, but are also associated with Rheumatoid Disease.

I use these drops, I find they help a bit in the day. The good thing about them is that they don't 'go off' quickly, so I can stash them in various bags for when they are needed. But I do need to use eye drops frequently.

Yes and yes but made the mascara run so I bought the closed eye mist by Optrex which works too. But I don't have a bad problem just some minor irritation. Sorry no idea about migraine.

I find my eyes get even worse coming into the winter as the central heating makes things worse . Settling a container with water on the radiator helps a bit .

Does anyone else find this is case ?

Yes weathervane, I was thinking that might be contributing to to my dry eyes.

Good idea about the water, I will try it.

I use water in rooms on radiator. You can buy containers that fit onto them. It helps the air not to be so dry. Amazing how often water needs refilling. I get dry eyes and they are crusty in the morning's. Never mentioned it to rheumy, but optition basically ignored it. Said it's just one of those things that a lot of people get. So I'm interested to read this thank you.

Thank you for useful info. Ruth.

I now know that there are quite a selection of products for eye conditions. I’m surprised that the optician didn’t help you.

These are quite expensive, so I think mine were happy 😃 to make the sale.

I have used various ones but for me Thealoz duo work best with Xailin night ointment.

Boots & opticians but opticians don’t seem to sell the Xailin

Pharmacies .

Hope they help I have dry eyes &RD. tried many drops and these seem best but need to use regularly.

I recently had to have emergency eye treatment at Lancaster hospital where the consultant put some plugs in my tear ducts . The procedure was ok nothing to worry about very gentle. You could ask about this.

I still get dry eyes and have to use the Xailin every night and the drops vey often in the da y.
