Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

Cattledog profile image
20 Replies

I seem to remember reading a post on here about somebody who was going to start taking 20ml of Extra Virgin Olive oil daily alongside their prescribed medication for RA.

it was about 6 weeks ago or so. They said they would post up any results, I think!

I’ve done a search but cannot find anything that relates to it.

Has anybody seen any relevant posts?

Thanks for any help. 👍

Probably me. I took 20mls daily for some time, but had no evidence that it was doing any good so stopped

Well, we’re all different. I was taking 25mls per day in one shot for about six weeks but found it was giving me stomach ache.

For the past 5 weeks I’ve been sloshing it on every meal practically, probably having 30+ mls per day. Not had any stomach issues but I believe it is helping with my inflammation. Could just be a coincidence of course.

By the way, I’m prescribed 25mg of Metoject weekly. Been on that years.

I remember it wasn’t just any old Extra Virgin olive oil…but the mega expensive stuff that you need to take.

There is a lot of advertising about it on line…but it isn’t until you sit through the boring video that the cost is revealed!

My bottle cost £29 !

I bring home from holiday. And a day trip to France is for coffee, oil, wine etc. Luckily living here we can get cheap offers on the tunnel. I’ve cooked with wine at £4O a bottle and drunk the 50 p a litre in plastic as it tasted better. My Italian friend told me though Lidl oil is from her home. And look for first press.

The Zoe study has a YouTube video about the health benefits of EV Olive Oil.

Anything that’s helps…

I take it on every meal, well almost.

Yes, I watched that. Very interesting. The expert on there suggested that oil from Tuscany had one of the highest amounts of Oleocanthal in it, an anti inflammatory similar to ibuprofen.

As you say, any help that you can get that does no harm is good.

Thankyou, I will find it

I use it in cooking and really good oil as a dip for bread with balsamic vinegar. I don’t fry with though. What is it supposed to do?

You are right you should not fry with Olive Oil…..the temperatures reached frying negate the goodness in it. I think I read somewhere over heating it can actually be harmful. But if you look on aboutolive oil.org (I think that is where I saw that) it denies that!

I've just put my Christmas cake in the oven and I hope Mary Berry has a good recipe as usually I do Delia but the pages have stuck together so can't see all the ingredients. I've only done this as it's pouring hard and the wind is blowing so going to stay in all day. My husband is on the golf course !! or rather the golf club so its just me and Kevin Costner this afternoon in Yellowstone. lol xx Such is this hard life....... Hope it's not too bad where you are. We're on the edge of the storm so should be ok but I hope everyone northwards is safe. xx

I am spending my morning chasing wheelie bins! I have even put the large food bin in the recycling bin. Just hope I remember to take it out before the binmen come!

I gave up making a Christmas Cake when I realised I never ate it…& by Easter half if it was still sitting in its tin . l do still manage mince pies..I’m using up all the liqueurs I no longer drink…this year I have poured Drambuie in the shop bought mince..but I will still take the credit for making it from scratch!😀

I make mincemeat it’s very easier and throw in any bottom of the bottle stuff. Today’s cake has got Cointreau in it. Smells nice. It’s getting windy here lots of leaves blowing around and rain starting too. Stay warm and don’t fall over chasing the bins! Ours is in garage so safe. lol

WD40 is cheaper - I spray in on my joints every morning.

It doesn't do any good but I think that I smell more manly!
