Worse joint pain day after mtx
I don’t know how long it might take to work but it did nothing for me (except make me feel awful) after about 10 weeks so I came off it.
The first couple of months of Mxt I noticed my pain was much worse the day after taking it. It slowly improved until I didn’t notice any of those side effects. It does take 2 or 3 months before you start to feel a real improvement.
your symptoms can get worse until the mtx starts to work which can be a few months or more so here’s hoping it starts to improve things for you soon.
Hi Timboo, I've not experienced that I'm afraid & I've been on it for years o & off. It does take a few weeks to get into you're system. But if things dont improve I would suggest you contact you're Rheumatoid nurse & tell her you're symptoms. Good luck, hope you improve soon.
I went through a period of not wanting to take it but when started again felt terrible a day or so after but am fine now just hate jabs
I would keep a written record/ diary of symptoms so you can see how things vary/ progress. It’s really helpful to have a book with everything in..
Appointments/ what was said
Dosage/ dates and amounts
Physio/ Occ health referrals etc etc
I've just restarted methotrexate after having to come off it for 10 weeks. I'm in alot of pain and if definitely feels worse after injection day. Remember your immune system thinks everything is foreign is will keep fighting and the result is how we feel. Eventually methotrexate or other med will win at what its supposed to do. Typically methotrexate can take 3 to 6 months to see improvements. Not sure what your dose is but if you aren't on the correct dose, then this will affect how quickly you see improvements. Good luck....hope things improve soon.
