Any Idea?

I’m only on a maintenance dose of mtx after stopping my last drug . I’m having a scan of my hands to determine whether it’s RA or PsA. Lately I’m getting leg weakness and exceptionally stiff and painful knees. I try to go for a walk everyday but it’s happening less . I’ve noticed as soon as I stop walking I cease up back of thighs ,bottom and outer hips this will last the rest of the day along with fatigue. I sit to remove my boots and socks but can’t lift legs to take them off hubby has too. This can last for days ?

It could be a symptom of your disease being active. I’ve just had a bad patch and rather than swollen joints my main problem was arms and legs that ached massively and wouldn’t work properly.

Possibly myalgia which can go along with arthritis?

I have Psoriatic Arthritis, and when I'm flaring I have similar symptoms; pain and stiffness as if I've seized up with any short sit after activity. I end up walking with a pronounced side to side shuffling gait and difficulty raising my foot even high enough to step into the car. ⁹My Rheumy calls this "gelling", and apparently it is more prevalent with PsA than RA, as severe tendonitis and enthesitis (inflammation where a tendon inserts at the end on bone) are cardinal features of PsA. At times my tendon and soft tissue pain is far worse than my joint pain. Definitely worth mentioning to your Rheumy; it may help to pin down your diagnosis along with the scans. On a side note steroids work wonders for me for this pain to settle the flare quickly. Best wishes on your journey.

This sounds very like me. I have PsA and inflammation in both sacroiliiac joints. Both my knees are affected but a lot of the pain is attributed to osteoarthritis and nobody will entertain the idea of that being part of the same disease. It clearly is. I'm on Cosentyx now with low dose mtx but I still get that stiffness.

Again this is very similar to myself, i think i have PsA but my rheumatologist has just put a blanket inflammatory arthritis diagnosis and they really aren't too interested in differentiation.

I didnt know if it was my fybromyalgia (I've still not come to terms with this diagnosis) or part of my arthritis.

Hopefully it will ease when you get on another medication. Crap though isn't it.

Sorry I've not been much help but harp on about myself 🤣

How's things with you ?

ooooh fibromyalgia is a B***h it’s hits you when your not looking always with something new . I can’t get my head around it either. Is it RA or Fibro or god forbid both!!!

I’m being reassessed as symptoms cross over and my rheumatologist said we need to pinpoint which one as different drugs target differently.

Mentally I’m fed up . I don’t leave the house as I cease up at a drop of a hat . Depressing when I know what’s on every channel at every hour . Who needs a tv guide when we have all this .

Moan over . How are you doing? Xx

Really sorry to hear this, being at home is lovely sometimes but when you HAVE stay in it can get you down can't it. Hope you find a way out soon x

I'm fed up of being at home, I actually had a job interview recently, absolutely stuffed it up. Still awaiting the outcome but I know I've fluffed it.

All this anxiety came out of nowhere and I was a mess as I'm not like this normally. Disappointed in myself, the job was several grade down from my previous roles so I've never felt so old and out of the game !!

I'm still really sad about my dad, sure thus has alot to do with things 😪

Hi,

My daughter is on weekly 15mg MTX tablets with Enbrel. She had to start with 10mg and built herself up to 15mg and found the dose was right for her and has been ok from lockdown to now. It may be a case of finding the correct dose? Everyone is different! Good luck
