hello

Has anyone ever developed a hives style itchy rash?

This started last evening and three times now it’s come on and eased. I rang 111 and went to the pharmacist last night.

When I was having covid at New Year - it triggered a horrible 6 week flare. Now this covid is easing I wonder if the rash is linked.

I ll ring my GP tomorrow but crikey I am wrecked.

yes in reaction to antibiotics. Try an antihistamine. Only Benadryl works for me.

Hello TheBoys

Are you on Hydroxychloroquine, out of interest?

If you are then I can give you some advice from my experience. I’ve been on it for nearly 8 years now and am still allergic.

All the best.

hi there

Not on hydroxychloroquine- I was up until two years ago but not now. This rash came out of the blue so completely but have got anti histamine now and watching my diet plus have got some DAO enzymes supplements to help my system back to normal.

my rash came on suddenly on my face . Urticaria with oedema. I saw a dermatologist and he prescribed strong anti histamine tablets . It settled for a while but now back again. Advised to up medication which I am not keen to do. Seem to take such a lot of stuff ! Will discuss with my rheumy next time I see him also speak to dermatologist if I can.

Hi T/boys yes yrs ago I did, its called uticaria & was caused by an allergy I has developed to ingesting sunflower oil/spreads. Took ages to find out what caused it tho! Antihistamines give relief also cold baths or showers, compresses. If its an allergy you have its best to find out what its to. Get a/histamines asap they,ll calm it right down :)

It’s quite common for people with auto immune diseases to develop Urticaria…an itchy rash….for no apparent reason.

I seem to have just “grown out of it”,but in my younger days I had this sort of rash often.

Oh, poor you. I had three episodes of a mystery rash one year and before RD raised it's unlovely head. Six weeks, three weeks and a week, if I remember correctly, of utter misery. Never got to the bottom of it but, boy, am I grateful it's gone away. Antihistamines and sleeping tablets were my best friends. Wishing you well

many thanks. It’s the itching that’s driving me mad! I’ve been using “acnecide” as well as antihistamine which seems to help.

Understood. It's another badly understood condition which gets you little sympathy and not much help.

I also get itchy rash on tops of arms and across top of my back. Take antihistamines every day and Dr prescribed Derma cream wash and recently he gave me Betnavte steroid cream.

Aqueous calamine Cream by Care can help calm hives itch along with your antihistamines. Our pharmacist recommended it for my Mum when she had an awful dose of Shingles whilst having chemo. Much better than the calamine lotion for easing the itch.

tnx I tried it - plus a cream called “acnecide” really helped. This rash seems to be driven by my covid infection

hi

I got tablet form but added calamine cream plus acnecide to help with the sting and heat.

I’ve even just rubbed a load of germolene into my neck. I ve never had this and is probably linked to my covid.
