Good morning lovely people and what a glorious morning it is. I just had to share our newest adoption 'cos she is so beautiful. May I introduce Purdey, a gorgeous bengal girl. Friendly, clean and very chatty I think our little family is now complete.

Thank you. We're getting there. It might have something to do with having freshly cooked haddock?

Hi Gnarli

What a gorgeous girl -thanks for posting the photo. How old is she? My friend had a bengal cross for many years, and she was a lovely cat. Smashing character and beautiful coat. Very chatty too - but in aa sweet chirpy way. Not like my two (Devon Rex X Siamese Cross). One sounds like a cross between a small dog yapping (who has been a lifelong smoker) and a crow cawing, and the other has the full-on siamese yowl (which is used to full and frequent effect). He also has to answer back to everything ..... and I mean everything - especially likes saying NO! I hope she likes her lovely bed. Mine have those (call them their marshmallow beds)! One each, but they still argue!🙄

I hope she brings you many years of joy and love. Also, hope she and your lovely doggie get along 😊xx

Gnarli2 profile image
Gnarli2 in reply toKags1068

She is 8 years old and quite loud and responds to me talking to her. Too soon to tell her character. She came with her own bed and blanket but prefers the new one. Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately, I think it will take some time for her to get used to Suki, especially as Suki is unwell at present.

Kags1068 profile image
Kags1068 in reply toGnarli2

Aah, it's good she's enjoying chatting with you already! She looks very relaxed in the photo. I'm sure it will be a pleasure getting to know her and watching her character come out. I really enjoyed that process with ours. I'm very sorry that Suki is unwell. I apologise for making you have to mention it. I sincerely hope she will be back to normal very soon. 🤞 I hope they become friends, too - or at least passing acquaintances.😉

Best wishes x😊

Gnarli in reply toKags1068

I had forgotten what a joy it is to get to know a cat. It's been 12 years since they've been gone. You weren't to know Suki's off colour. Honestly, it's ok. She's had a lumpectomy and were awaiting test results. The way she's eating you'd never guess.

Kags1068 profile image
Kags1068 in reply toGnarli

I hope you get the results soon, and everything is ok. Definitely a very good sign if she's got a good appetite! Sounds like she's working diligently on getting her strength back .

Yes, it really is a joy getting to know a cat, and she will no doubt keep growing in confidence and reveal more of herself in the months to come. Enjoy😊

We had one turn up on our drive many years ago, looking rather sorry for him(?)self.

Thin, and with a sprained leg, I seem to remember. He very graciously put up with us for 5 or 6 days, allowing us to feed and pamper him, but was always distinctly independent. Then he was gone. He returned again after a few days, stayed another couple, and then was gone for ever.

I felt that we weren't quite stimulating or exciting enough for him somehow, although we did our best.

I've always been very surprised that a Bengal would turn up like that, as I know they are an expensive cat to buy, and are usually well looked after by their owners. It's the only time I've ever met one.

At other times, 2 cats, both black and white, and fairly young, appeared on the drive, and we took them in. Felix died a year or so back, and Jess aged about 20 now, is still going fairly strong. So....some cats are happy to adopt us.

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply toHezekiah

What an amazing thing to happen. Apparently, bengals are roamers we were warned. Our rescue had belonged to a very caring and loving owner who ensured she wanted for nothing. I hope she isn't snobbish as I'm sure her pedigree is far superior to mine 😁

Morning, she's lovely. I'm taking in a long haired black cat. Think he was hurt by his previous owners, toddler was hurting the cat he lashed out in self defence. Family have apparently moved and left puss who is nervous but appreciates the food and shelter. He is however teaching my kitten some naughty tricks and watches the way the kitten responds, plays with me and sits on my lap

Gnarli profile image
Gnarli in reply toRitaritis

I'm sure puss will settle in very quickly in your tender care. It's so lovely of you to take him in as most wouldn't. I've never understood why people don't teach their children to treat animals with care and respect. Their loss, eh? I've always had a soft spot for black cats and have had two in the past. Sending hugs and strokes

Ritaritis profile image
Ritaritis in reply toGnarli

I agree. We got smacked for hurting animals. I had a maine coon that went missing, believed stolen months ago. Charlie would hang around waiting for me to call Bella in, steal her food and if it was bad weather hide in my house. I've know cruelty and it does take time to trust again. A cat nip toy is helping. In time I ned to find a way toget charlie to the vet for snipping and chipping. Have approached a local rescue centre for advice and help.
