Hi, 4jabs and shielded for 2 years but then my husband caught covid. I tested negative 1 day and positive the next. My GP said I probably wouldn’t be eligible for anti- virals, that there are no respiratory conditions on the list, but she’d put me forward anyway. I then had an email asking if wanted to take part in the Panoramic test for home anti virals so I’ve signed up.
I know some members have registered with them before but has anyone actually taken part?
I’m very achy and tired, coughing a bit and wheezy. My respiratory consultant had told me, if I catch it, to start my prednisolone so I’m doing that at 40mg pd. My husband’s symptoms have been worse than mine, raging sore throat and loss of taste ( he only had 3 jabs) so maybe the 4th jab has helped. I definitely don’t want to be back in hospital with this!
Take care all.

My husband was offered that when he had covid a few weeks ago - he said ‘yes’ but somewhere along the line the computer said ‘no’ so it never happened. I suppose he would on.y have qualified in age - he is 75 and he has asthma. So I wouldn’t hold your breath that it will happen for you.. as it was he was fine. Hardly any symptoms, it lasted a week and he has or doesn’t appear to have had no after effects.
On the web'site it says they have received 'an extraordinary number of registrations' so I guess many won't be contacted. I hope you feel better very soon.
I am surprised you didn’t not qualify for antivirals. I had the monoclonal antibody infusion when I caught it recently. It did help but my asthma kicked off big time and I am still recovering. I now have severe asthma, long COVID and PsA. Not a good combination. I wish you well. I would try almost anything but we all have to make our own decisions. I wish you well.
Thanks. Because I tested +ve on a Friday and they have a 5 day from start deadline, I’m afraid I’ll be outside their timescales. May I ask how many days it was from your test to starting thrm? I hope they help.
If your GP says you probably wouldn’t qualify for anti-virals (respiratory) perhaps you would for your RD, or rather the meds you take for it. Maybe your DMARD/s &/or biologic would, or pred… at that dose it surely would mean you'd qualify, or is it over the time limit now?

40 mg is an incredibly high dose of steroid, esp if this has not been prescribed by your rheumatologist. I would highly recommend that you get advice from your rheumatologist or nurse led helpline. Ailsa
